Hyundai recently launched its new car i20 in market. This car is based on the previous car that is Hyundai Getz. If we compare this car with the other model already in market that is i10, we can see that there are many changes in the features and the technical specifications in the car. Although we have the same 1.2 liter engine in the hood but there are a lot many changes in the body specification and the added features that are added to the new car.
There are lot many changes in the new car if different from the old i10 in technical specifications and features. These differences are as follows:
- The car is different in length, width and in height with margins of 375mm, 115mm and in lower in height with a margin of 45mm. This adds up to the stability of the car on road.
- And added fuel capacity of 10 liters in the fuel tank.
- Also the car comes with 14 inch tires as compared to old 13 inch tires and also the tires are wider with a specification of 185/65 R14, Tubeless as compared to 155/80 R13 (tubeless) in i10. And not to be forgotten this car comes with alloy wheels.
- The car has got power door locks which were not there in i10.
- This car has got 60:40 Rear Folding seats which makes it more comfortable.
- Also we have Adjustable Front & Rear Headrests and height adjustable driver seat which were not there in i10.
- This car has got rear AC cooling which makes it more comfortable for the passengers in the back seat.
- Also the car has various indicators inside the car which include indication of the temperature outside, driving time, seat belt indicators for all five belts and many other indicators that help the driver to know the condition of the car better while driving.
- This car comes with ABS with EBD as compared it i10 which only had ABS.
- This car has immobilizer, rear fog lamps and also there is a switch for controlling passenger side airbag.
All these difference make this car a good option instead of the previous i10. The cars have got the same engine so there is a little difference in the mileage of these two cars. Also i20 costs a little more than i10 if we compare the top models but there is some difference.

I don’t think you can compare cars or judge which one is better than the other. It’s more a case of which car suits an individuals needs.
The i10 is better suited to the city because cars with shorter wheelbases aren’t much fun on motorways or long journeys.
The i20 could cope with both, plus internally is much bigger than the i10. So i’d say if you were a young mother with a couple of small children, single and weren’t bothered about street cred or even retired and you just wanted cheap motoring with the occasional trip out of town, then the i10 is going to do the job nicely.
The i20’s simply the next notch up and aimed at families where the kids are growing and more legroom and boot space are needed.
What you should be asking is does the i10 or i20 match the latest offerings from the likes of Ford. Now that’s a different subject entirely.
