I have Maruti 800(1999 model, HR26J 7666). The fresh battery starts depleting when the car is kept idle for 2-three days. Almost 0.1 V drops every day. When I remove the negative clamp from the negative terminal of the battery, there is about 11.8 V between the battery terminal and car chasis(earth). Is it alright? This means that some resistance is coming into the circuit which is causing a drop. The normal reading when both the terminals are connected across the battery is say 12.4V which goes on decreasing due to unknown cause. Earlier I thought that the Central Locking System must be causing larger drain so I had disconnected the same but still the problem exists. The Battery supplier(AMARON GO) says there is no problem with the battery. The alternator gives a voltage of 14.2V indicating that this is all right. Will the car radio in off position also draw current?
Local Maruti Authorized Service Centre has not detected any problems with the battery.
Pl suggest what to do?
