Gypsies are back
Maruti GypsyIn the good old days when sports utility vehicles were not that common in India the Maruti Gypsy enjoyed a good position in the market. This was because it was amongst the first cars that offered an off road experience while incorporating style into its design. With time however car manufacturers from all over the world have developed many superior sports utility vehicles that have overshadowed this old timer. The new age sports utility vehicles seemed to be much more refined as they incorporated modern technology while bearing in mind the modern aesthetics.

The interesting thing to note however is the fact that the car is still held in high esteem amongst those people looking for the thrill of speed. These speedaholics would still pretty much place their trust in the tried and tested Maruti Gypsy than take their chances on a new sports utility vehicle. Strange as it sounds this is the trend down at the racing circuit where speed and stability are the main criteria. The ground clearance of the Maruti Gypsy is remarkably high and it can take on the roughest of terrains with utmost ease.

So what makes this car go as fast as it does? Under the hood the Maruti Gypsy conceals a 1.3 liter engine that has the ability to deliver of about 80 Bhp. The engine is more than sufficient to provide the car with an extra ordinary pick up that is beneficial for the races. Furthermore the car has a diaphagram spring clutch system that has been specially designed to serve specific purposes. The most basic function of this technology is that it minimizes the wear and tear of the system thus ensuring the long life of the vehicle.

The car is available in three different variants. The hard cover, soft cover and ambulance versions are all available in a range of hour different colors. The Maruti Gypsy has been roaming the streets of India for more than two decades. Through the course of time it has undergone many crucial changes. The 90’s saw the release of the Gypsy king which was a more power full version of the old school Maruti Gypsy. In some ways the Maruti Gypsy can be said to have stood the test of time as it still has a considerable amount of respect even though many better SUV’s have been released in the market. The car also has ample room for customization which is something the speed freaks greatly relish about the car.
