You need to first of all make a list of all the hardware configuration based on the following table and find out what kind of Laptop you really need and then go forward with the search for the same. Based on this you can decide the ideal Laptop which you need to buy and invest your money into, and not directly go and buy a Apple Macbook Pro which costs more than 1,00,000Rs and which is not really something you really need.

People keep asking this question regularly to me, saying that they have a very less budget for this months purchase and they want to buy a new Laptop which would come down at a 20000Rs or less price range. Lets first accept a fact that a this kind of budget you should expect a very less configured Laptop model which would be quite slow and would also be a small display sized Laptop.

ASUS Eee PC 2G Surf – MRP : 14000Rs

ASUS-Eee PC 2G Surf

This is the cheapest Laptop you can buy currently in India which costs somewhere around 300$. Lets discuss about its basic features which includes a Intel Celeron M based processor with a speed 900MHz and a 512Kb cache Memory. The Laptop has a total RAM of 512Mb with no option to Upgrade your RAM which means that you cannot increase the speed of this Laptop even though if you want to. You cannot expect a CD Rom Drive, DVD Drive, Combo Drive nor DVD Writer Drive in this Netbook. The display Screen Size is of 7″ and the total maximum Display Resolution is of 1600×1280 and it comes with a 801.11b/g Wifi Connecticity and amazingly 3 USB Ports.
Samsung N120 – A Notebook which is preferred for most users because of the looks and hardware. Built with a Intel Atom Processor, the Samsung N120 Mini-Notebooks comes with Genuine Windows XP Home Operating System. This 10.1″ Laptop comes with a 6 cell battery which would mean that this mini laptop can be useful while you are travelling because of longer battery backup. The laptop offers you with SRS TruSurround XT and SRS WOW XT sound effects which would mean that you wont need a external speaker like X-Mini. You do get 3 USB Ports, Bluetooth, SD, SDHC, MMC Card Readers and a fast speed wireless connection facility.
Dell Inspiron Mini 9 – MRP : 20000Rs

Dell Inspiron Mini 9

Dell Inspiron Mini 9 is seriously a good looking laptop which can be considered to buy if you are looking to gift a laptop to someone. Not only the looks but also the features are rich because its powered by Intel Atom 1.6GHz processor which takes very less power usage and also comes with a 1Gb of RAM along with 16Gb SSD Hard drive. The Screen Dimensions are 9.1″x6.8″ along with a thickness of 1.25-1.1″. The total weight is around 1kg and it does come under the Netbook Category. The laptop does look similar to the Asus 9″ Eee PC but is quite thinner and looks better. The Dell Mini 9 comes with 3 USB 2.0 Ports and SD Card Reader along with Ethernet, Bluetooth & Wifi Connectivity. Dont expect any CD Rom drive in these Netbook series because these are compact stuff which are generally connected to USB Drives. You get multiple inbuilt applications in this Laptop which are totally free and preinstalled for your daily need, though the keyword is quite small and you need to get habituated in order to use these small laptops. There are no ports in the front end and all the posts are situated on the sides of the Laptop. The battery life is around 3-4 hours based on the usage and the programs run and is quite ok when compared to the size and features of the Laptop though a 6-cell battery would have been expected rather than the current 4-cell battery. There are 2 models available in this based on the Operating System like Windows XP or Linux Ubuntu.

With each passing year, although the efficiency of laptop batteries increase but the effect is subdued by an even greater increment in the power needs of the laptops that don’t help to prolongate the average life of the batteries. So it is imperative to look for the best laptops with highest battery life.

One such mini laptop is the Asus Eee PC 1005HA- PU1X netbook that has got a hoard lot of features along with an exclusively designed strong battery system.

If you feel like your Adsense Daily Income is not growing then there can be some options in your hand which you need to work out rather than waiting for Google to pay you more per click. If you are a regular visitor of this blog you would have seen that i keep changing my Ad Unit sizes because offering the same size always makes your visitors go Ad Blind and there are chances of clicking on your advertisements which means that you can expect a lower Click Through Rate.

Generally Bloggers are in a view that Less Ads would mean that they would get paid more but thats not the case always, you need to find out the right ad unit for your blog because it depends on your designs and different experiments would give you the right results. Some of the most used ad units in decreasing order are –
336×280
300×250
728×90
250×250
160×600

Its recommended to avoid Image Ads on your Adsense Units if they are placed within the content because these can distract your visitors while they are reading your content and the Text ads would add them some resource because they are relevant to the stuff they are reading. The Link Ads should be placed on the Top Navigation Section not to make the visitors think that these are Navigation Links but to offer them with links which can be helpful to them while searching for something.

Example : If you have written a article on ‘Laptops Buying Guide‘ – The Adsense Link units would be the most clicked because there would be ads with different Laptop Selling Companies Brand Names listed like Dell, HP, Sony Vaio, Apple, Acer etc and based on the users selection they would click on these link units.

You need to try out using atleast 2 Text Ads Units & 2 Link Ad Units anytime you are running Google Adsense on your blogs because that can help you make the most of your Advertisements. The only problem with adding the maximum Ad units is that the high paying and lower paying ads are all displayed which can lead to overall less income and when you have 2+2 Ad Slots the highest paying ads are only displayed giving you a better eCPM.

If you are displaying Google Ads on the lower part of your website you can try out with the 728×15 or 468×15 Link Ads just around the Comments section or the Footer section because visitors would be exiting from your website and if link ads are shown there, you have more chances of getting Clicks. While showing advertisements within your blog posts using adsense plugins you should try out sizes like 468×60 Text Ads which display the Ad Title & Description but not the URL which means that the visitor would click on these in order to find out more.

Testing out with different Ad Units is the only suggestion which can be given because Adsense now offers you with options to create multiple channels, font sizes, font colors and also allows you to show randomly changing ad colours

Sony vaio has also entered the Netbook market with a really sleek and neat looking laptop named as the VAIO P series Netbook which is a bit costly at the moment costing around 900USD. Though Sony is a company which offers quality for which you need to pay a higher price always and when we made a comparision of best laptops , Sony Vaio Laptops were the highest rated ones which were recommended by more than 1100 users.

The netbook is really good for people who travel a lot, for bloggers or writers who want to start writing on a small device than handling a big laptop. This netbook is just 8″ with a LED backlit screen and 2.08:1 aspect ratio, giving 1600×768 pixel resolution along with a full keyboard for complete functioning.

The netbook is based on a 1.6Ghz CPU along with a decently sized 128Gb SSD for storing more data, which is quite good when compared to other netbooks from Asus Eee PC, MSI Wind, Dell Mini 9, Acer Aspire One and Lenovo S10 which start at just 4Gb storage. Comes preinstalled with Windows Vista, WiFi 802.11n, GPS and bluetooth which are the features normally available in other laptops.

Samsung is generally famous for selling very slim laptops which are similar to lg laptops, but this is a laptop which is slim as well as beautiful. Also claimed as ‘Lighter than Air’ which would mean its going to be a laptop with the total weight comparatively less than Apple MacBook Air.

The weight of this Samsung X360 Notebook would be 88 Grams less than the Official Apple Air. The screen of this new notebook would be 13.3″ in size with LED-backlit display with Intel Centrino 2 ULV processor. The notebook is equipped with a 1GB RAM which is comparatively very less when compared to these days best laptops from companies like hp, acer, dell and sony though the RAM of Samsung X360 can be upgraded to 4GB and features a notebook choice of 64GB or 128GB SSD, or a 5400RPM 120GB HDD.

Other features of X360would be three USB 2.0 ports, HDMI, VGA, a 7-in-1 card reader, PCI ExpressCard, ethernet and a docking port. Wireless connectivity includes a built-in WiFi and Bluetooth 2.0 EDR module, 1.3-megapixel webcamera and built-in fingerprint scanner. The expected price is in the $2,200 to $2,900 range. Lets wait and watch when this laptop is officially launched and how it performs in the market.

There are notebooks which are specific for corporate users and while looking for such notebooks the user has to change his perspective. In consumer notebooks the features which consumers look for are style, multimedia and entertainment; whereas corporate users look for reliability, build quality and flexibility – with security often thrown in as an added feature. When looking at an ultra-portable, notebook like the Acer TravelMate 6292 claims to be, there’s a whole raft of other important considerations such as portability, durability and battery life which the potential user has to analyze. Satisfying all these different demands isn’t easy, though these days’ manufacturers seem more adept than ever at pulling everything together and succeed in giving a complete package. Acer hasn’t missed too many tricks in trying to give a complete package to the consumers. As a company it has a reputation for putting out powerful hardware at competitive prices, and the TravelMate 6292 continues this trend.

Hardware Configuration
The notebook sports an Intel Core 2 Duo T7300 clocked at 2.0GHz, with 4MB L2 Cache and an 800MHz Front Side Bus. This is ably supported by 2GB 667MHz DDR2 RAM, a 160GB SATA hard drive, integrated Intel X3100 graphics and a Super-Multi DVD burner drive.

Connectivity
This notebook has good network connectivity too, with 802.11a/b/g/Draft-N wireless and Gigabit Ethernet as well as Bluetooth 2.0 EDR, a Fast Infrared port and the obligatory 56k software modem for legacy support. Regrettably, there’s no HSDPA as yet, though it shouldn’t be ruled out as a future introduction in the upcoming models. This is accepted that the 6292 has all the necessary hardware. It also has a PC Card slot which means that HSDPA functionality could be added through a 3G card from a third party. This remains an open option for the user.

Body and screen resolution
The chassis is common with the ultra-portable bracket. The chassis is based around a 12.1in display with a 1,280 x 800 native resolution. It has dimensions of 306mm wide and 227mm deep. The 6292 is nicely proportioned for carrying easily, fitting as it does nicely under the arm. The user will have no inconvenience in carrying it because it is designed for the user’s convenience. The outer casing of the battery casing is evenly textured which provides a better grip for carrying.

Weight
However, this is by no means the lightest or thinnest ultra-portable that’s hovered by the TR labs. The noticeable disadvantage of this notebook is the weight and other notebooks with similar hardware configuration will outclass it in only this department. At 34.5mm thick it’s on the chunkier side and with the standard 6-cell battery it weighs just shade over 2kg at 2.05kg. It is too heavy for a notebook of this size, and ideally a weight of in the region of 1.8kg or less would be preferable. It doesn’t completely fulfill its portable credentials because the 6292 is noticeably heavier than its peers.

The Acer TravelMate has a good hardware configuration but the only disadvantage is the weight of the notebook.

Acer turns out to launch the world’s cheapest laptops costing just 379$[16000Rs] with the current availability in US Laptop Markets only. These are some very limited edition kind of laptops with 1.6Ghz Intel processors and a very small sized screens which are of 8.9 inches and would offer 1024×600 pixels resolution and Windows XP or any Linux Operating systems support. The Acer Aspire One Laptops come with a 120Gb Hard Disk Drive which is a decent storage space but these low priced laptops are featured with just 512Mb RAM which is quite low as per todays requirements and 1Gb of RAM would have been better.

Other Important Specs of these cheap laptops includes a 3USB Port option, Web Camera, Ethernet, 5-in-1 card reader, battery backup of upto 7 hours which is quite amazing considering the price of these laptops and would be the best model for travellors who would consider a cheap, low weight, small sized laptop with a higher battery backup. Currently Eee PC is available in 3 different versions which are AOA110-1722, AOA150-1570 and AOA110-1566.

Its not something which happens everyday but since many people now have online bank accounts, credit cards purchasing and ecommerce related transactions, its very important to make sure that the system you are working on right now is very much secured and you may not lose any of your financial data. In most laptops your important data is auto-stored into the browsers because thats the facility of the browser and you generally in order to save up some of your time, allow the browser to save all your personal inportant data and this is something which the hackers can easily gain. Its also very important to delete your history and memory cache regularly or on every time the browser restarts.

Using Biometric security :

Biometric security feature is a method in which the physiological & behavioral trend of the user is noted and based on these the person is given access to the computer. The physiological method includes face, fingerprint, hand, iris & DNA Checkouts out of which HP Laptops Veriface has already adapted services like face recognition & Fingerprint in their latest laptop series like Lenovo IdeaPad Y710 and Y510 along with Toshiba Notebooks in their models Satellite U400, Satellite M300, Satellite A300 and Satellite P300. If you are looking for a notebook with a built-in fingerprint sensor you can check out HP Pavilion dv3000 series, Gemstone Blue family from Acer with models like Aspire 6920g & 8920g, Samsung Q1 Ultra Premium, IBM Lenovo X300, Toshiba Qosmio G45-AV690, Sony VR Series like VGN-CR15, Dell E4200 & E4300, X410A-03 Laptop from HTC, Haeir T68.

Using a Secured Password :

Its general practice of using password like ‘Computer’, ’12345′, ‘mypass’ etc and these can be easily hacked, try to use a real secure password which can be Alpha-Numeric and very hard to break into. Generally try to use password which are a mix of broken words rather than full names etc. Try to create your own password ideas based on your birth city or anniversay date like if your place of birth is new delhi, create a password like MPOBND[My Place of Birth New Delhi] something like this which anyone cannot ever get a idea about. May be a line from your favourite movie/song can also be used to create a secured tricky password. There are also many password generator tools to help you in creating secured passwords but the problem with these is that the created passwords are alpha-numeric and you need to write them down somewhere in order to remember them, but if you are building a password based on some of your favourite lines as i mentioned above you dont even need to store a copy of your password anywhere else and its almost impossible for anyone to break these passwords.

Clean your Browser’s Cache :

As i mentioned previously its very important to clean all your browsers stored information which could be cookies, your stored passwords , logins, personal information. If you are using IE check out the process to delete internet history and make sure you dont leave any important data on your laptops browser. Some websites try to gain these information directly from your browser though your installed antivirus software would generally check out these websites for virus/trojans/spywares along with the search engines which also generally give you a report about a website, but its always safe to remove any personal information on your computer’s browser.

Try to Avoid Instant Messengers :

Its generally recommended not to use instant messengers like Yahoo Messenger if you are not really chatting with someone on your list, because there have been many reports where users got access into others PC’s using Yahoo Messenger client and hence its not generally recommended using a IM Client and the web based messenger service would be far more better and secure. Another option is that these hackers try to send you some trojans/applications in the name of some important files and the moment you accept them, they get remote access into your PC, and this can lead into privacy problem along with important data loss.

Using Kensington Security Slot :

Most Latest laptop models are now equipped with a Kensington Security Slot which is a anti-theft system using which you can secure your laptop. its nothing but a small hole located in your laptops side section where in you can attach a lock & cable and make it impossible for someone to directly pick up your laptop and runaway. These locks are generally unlocked using keys or else PIN Devices. Apple Macbook has been a exception for this feature because all the laptop manufacturers started offering this security slot. The cable is generally very hard to cut but is possible using a wire cutter. You can find these kensington security slots in use in most malls and shopping places where the laptops & mobile phones are offered for display and demo purpose and these slots offers the store keepers the security from getting their products stolen and the wire cutters would also need a good amount of time to cut through these strong wires. In case of electronic locks the alarms are automatically ON the moment the device is removed from the slot. There have been some sucessful attempts to break open these highly secure locks using card board, check out the video here which clearly shows how a hacker uses just a small toilet paper’s card board and opens these strong locks.

Storing Important Files Securely Online :
If you have some word based document files which you need to update regularly its recommended to use highly secured services like google docs or email services like hotmail users can use Windows Live , yahoo’s yahoo breifcase services with 30Mb Storage Space etc. The advantage of using online backup tools is that you can always have a copy of your important data with secured data backup sites and not on a local computer which can get hacked at any moment. The Online Backup options not only offer security but also offers you to get access from any location when compared to your laptops which you cannot everywhere at times. The online services can be accessed using internet based mobile phones and you can update the files using multiple devices.

Password Protecting your Files & Folders :

You should always use password protection for your important files and folders. In case of word based documents you have a feature of adding password to your files after which no one can edit your document file without giving the right password. In case of securing your folders you should try to encrypt your data by Right Click the Desired Folder > Properties > Advanced > Encrypt contents to secure data > Apply > ok and this makes all your data in that folder secured. You can also use 3rd party applications like ‘Folder Lock’ to disable access to specific folders on your laptop’s hard disk drive and make sure only the admin can access it. You can use some of these softwares for the highest levels of data encryption : RoboForm, Advanced File Lock, AutoKrypt, Advanced Password Generator, My Secure Notepad & Crypturn.

Make sure you perform all the best security methods on time before you really lose your laptops and its not easy to recover a lost laptop or recovering the data which is stolen from your notebook. Its generally like the saying ‘A stitch in time saves nine’!

The poll clearly shows that Sony Vaio laptops are the most recommended, followed by medium budget laptops by HP and Dell which is followed by the leading gadgets manufacturer Apple which offers excellent laptops but are not much sold because of a high price tag.

Often new laptop buyers get confused on which laptop to buy because india is still behind countries like united states in terms of laptop users and this is the only reason many people in india have no information on which laptop to decide and what are the advantages of buying one.First of all let me introduce you guys with some laptops available in India.

1. Sony Vaio – My favourite laptops since i own 2 Sony vaio CR and they just rock because of the performance, neat designs , light weight and best of all the other laptops in my opinion. The design part of sony laptops are the design which are very neat though apple macbook gets number #1 rank in terms of looks. The pricing part is very important in case of sony vaio laptops because if you are looking for the basic models they start around 1500USD (or) 55000 Indian Rupees and the latest vaio series come with inbuilt webcam and a fingerprint scanner below the cursor keys which are the latest technology.

2. Dell XPS – Dell used to be a market leader in all their products series long back but now its position has been taken by many other laptop manufacturers, and Dell has recently launched a new model – The XPS 1730 which is a powerful notebook with Intel Core 2 Duo T7300 (2.0GHz) / T7500 (2.2GHz) / T7700 (2.4GHz) / X7800 (2.6GHz) processor and is the first laptop to have intel’s latest Core 2 extreme x 7800 mobile processor.

3. HP Laptops – HP Pavillion laptops were the products HP started manufacturing with the latest models being HP Pavilion dv2600 series Entertainment Notebook PC, HP Pavilion dv2000 series Entertainment Notebook PC, HP Pavilion dv6000 series Entertainment Notebook PC and HP Pavilion tx1000 Entertainment Notebook PC. With the screen size ranging from 12.1″ to 15.4″ HP offers a stylish design, high-definition viewing and wide-screen twist and turn touch-screen. Current offers from HP include a Hauppage TV Tuner with HP Pavilion/Compaq Presario Notebook PCs worth 5000 INR.

4. Acer Laptops – Acer laptops have launched many series some of which include the Aspire 4920 Series, Ferrari 1000 Series, Extensa 5210 Series, Aspire 5573 Series, TravelMate 6292 Series, Aspire 5583 Series, Aspire 3680 Series, TravelMate 4233 Series and TravelMate 3275 Series. This laptop manufacturer company is currently advertising very heavily in the upcoming laptop industry in india because the laptop buyers are increasing in india rather than the desktop computers. Acer laptops pricing comes at a lower end with a starting price of around 30000 Indian rupees which is the normal pricing for a standard desktop computer.

5. Apple Macbook – Macbook Pro – Apple has started selling laptops in india with a very limited number of stores all over india, and i own a Apple Mac book which i bought from a apple store in banglore and overall i had a bad experiance because i bought the laptop for my brother and he wanted to use it at his college on a wireless data card usb connection and the macbook is not able to connect to the reliance data card USB connection because of some driver problems, and this is the problem with any wireless internet connection. This macbook can only be used on a broadband connection with the inbuilt wifi port. The macbook series are one of the best if you can sort out this wireless internet connection problems because of the superb quality inbuilt camera, mac os operating system which can be upgraded to Mac OS X Leopard though i have a dual boot system of Mac OS with windows xp professional. The pricing of Macbook’s start at 65000Rs in india and include a 1 year warranty.

What is your current laptop/notebook and which one would you suggest to all your friends and students who want to buy one?
