Flipkart.com is one of the well-known brands on the web which offers easy shopping and quicker delivery. I have been suggesting the service by flipkart to literally thousands of web users. You may get confused on how could I mention that I have referred thousands of people to this service and the answer to that is mentioned below. Before I post my case here, I would also like to say that I have made numerous purchases at flipkart and they have infact offered the best services but recently this has worsened and I cannot stop myself from posting the same on this blog.
Reason # 1 : Bad Support I have had purchased a Sony Mobile Phone at Rs 28,000 and once it was delivered, and I had opened the box, found that the device was sluggish and had some serious issue. I immediately called up the support team and asked them to check out the issue, and they said someone from their technical team would call me up. Waited for another 24 hours and there was no call back, again called up the support team and they said they would forward the query and I need to wait for 24 hours for a call back. I was also told that I can expect a response within 24 hours and if the phone as some issue they would replace the same or else refund the money and take the device back. Another 24 hours passed and I never received a call back.
It was clear that flipkart was no more interested in offering a service for the device they sold and I had kept the phone in the package and never used it. It is clearly a loss of Rs 28000 and am not more interested in getting it fixed. Just want to send back the product and need my money back. If they are serious about their business and customers they will have to do this or else expect this kind of negative comments.
Reason # 2: Deleting of Buyer Comments I had purchased a Samsung Galaxy Tab a few months back at Rs 36200 and before the product was delivered the price was dropped to Rs 34900 which means clearly Rs 1201 was my loss and I raised a ticket for the price difference and they said they would refund the money. The order was placed on 25 August 2011, and finally after around 7 months the money was sent to my account, do you think this is OK?
Before they had issued me a refund, I had added a review on the Galaxy Tab’s sales page about the price difference and also a small review of the tablet. This was when they called me up and told that they would issue me a refund after 7 months and also told that they cannot approve my comment, which is wrong. It’s my comment; it was not harsh and up to the point that I had just mentioned about the price issue.
Reason # 3: No Social Media Support Whenever someone tweets anything around #flipkart, you can expect an almost instant response from their team, thanking for choosing their services, but when the discussion is about a problem, they do not respond back. They should consider each of the customer tweets and create a ticket on the complained raised to ensure it is fixed as soon as possible.
Reason # 4: Higher Prices If you feel that flipkart is one of those services which offer you with the cheapest pricing and quickest delivery then, you are wrong. A quick search on different e-commerce sites would show you that the prices are actually quite higher than other service providers around. Example: Check out the price of the Samsung Galaxy S II phone is Rs 30,900 while the same product is available at Rs 28,990 on other stores like adexmart, sulekha, snapdeal etc. and still lover at offline stores, which clearly implies that flipkart over charges you around 10% as shown in this case. Would you still purchase this product only for a reason that it’s delivered quickly? I would suggest checking out the nearby Reliance Digital, or else other Mobile Chains to buy your products if you are in a hurry, atleast you are ensured that the price you are offered is the lowest possible.
There are many other reasons like their Affiliate system is not working well but again I do not have any tools to track the same. I have been sending them visitors every single day through our blogs and they rarely convert, but I do not have any complaints about this because probably our readers would be interested in buying the product later or may be some other reason. I have purchased many other products from this company as shown below, but the Rs 28,000 phone purchase is one which makes me feel sad and I criticize myself for not buying it from eBay and doing the mistake of buying it from Flipkart.
Now till flipkart would not comment below and refund me the money, considering the phone is not used I would never buy a product from their team and would never suggest their services to any of our readers. We will soon be removing all the links we have added on our different gadget blogs to flipkart. Hope this article will make them understand how a customer feels when they believe you and you try to loot on their confidence.
Update 18/03/2012 : Flipkart team contacted me on phone and told that i can immediately expect a call from the technical department but another 24 hours passed on.
Update 19/03/2012 : I finally received a call after 36 hours from the very same person who called me a day back initially claiming that he was the technical department and said he would like to resolve the issue by refunding the payment for the product. This was because of the Tweets by all of your readers which made them call me back. Following is a email from his end on the same.
Update 20/03/2012 : I received a call from their manager at 10 Am claiming that they would refund the payment and initiate the pickup as soon as possible which was already confirmed above on 19th itself. Nonetheless this update from their manager gave me more confidence on their support.
Update 21/03/2012 : I get a call from the pick up team asking about the pick up of my Samsung Galaxy Tab, while the whole issue was about a Sony Xperia Phone. I was quite shocked because the flipkart team did another blunder for this whole issue and requested for a pick up of a product which was bought 7 months back. Check out the copy of the email they had sent me on this issue.
Finally after discussing with the manager and pick up person we sent back the product. In the evening, customer support manager again called me up and i had updated him that the product is sent back and inquired with him about the refund. He had mentioned that if i opt for wallet option, the funds will be in my account in 30 minutes while if i opt for Credit Card it would take 4-6 business days. I opted for wallet option and almost another 24 hours have passed on and I am still waiting here for the refund.
Update 22/03/2012 : I got a call from the team that the payment would be credited to the bank / CC even though i had informed them about selecting the wallet option. Nonetheless the payment was credited and i have finally received the payment from them for the defected product.
Please note that i have had a issue with flipkart which does not mean that each of you can expect that. It happens once in a while and I am happy that flipkart team fixed everything.

Ebay anytime because you have a huge list of best sellers from whom you can select the ones with 98% above ratings. eBay also gives you a price guarantee and refunds you the money if you are not satisfied unlike flipkart. I have atleast 5 lakhs rupees of purchases on eBay in the past 3 months which would have been made on flipkart but thanks to them for not solving the issues i have had with them.

I don’t think they would even respond back because its the general rule in India. Products Once Sold is your mistake, we never would help you on the same. Once you are out of a Store after buying a product, the seller would not even be interested to speak to you.

The response they gave was really frustrating, eBay.in is really a better option for shopping online. The prices are indeed less when compared to Flipkart and if you’re unsure about quality check for the seller’s rating. The recent interaction I had with the eBay support team was quite pleasing.

I can’t believe this type of service from Flipkart. Even I’ve been using it since few years and it was simply best. And I would like to focus on their price. There prices are always costlier than any other online purchasing site. But If you are giving great service, than generally people are ready to pay some extra pie. But after reading your instance, it has created much doubt in my mind now.

No daught FK Was good & Very Fast in delivery of product , I remember 6 month ago i have purchased 3 products at very good price with good discount.now suddenly from last 6 months there service got disturbed , i have faced 2 issue with my recent orders, 1- no delivery promptness 1 – Bad packaging. on replacement its took 15 days , i have paid more price then other like eBay & Snap deal, still facing issue .Now i also Recommended all my Friends to see eBay or other player.It look like Rosy days of FK is Gone……

This happens sometimes – I remember one incident which had happen to me when I bought a set of pen drives from one well know website. And they made it late; the worst thing in that incident was they were not replying to my emails, even though after two weeks. Finally, when I wrote in their twitter that I’m going to review your service in my blog and going to tell people how you treat your customer – They delivered my product in none but in next 2 days – The power of twitter and blogging.

Hope you remember me. 🙂 It’s been long since we haven’t had a talk.
Anyways, back to the subject; I had quite positive(90+%) response from FlipKart so far. I have bought more than 10 books in different times in FlipKart. I bought from them because
1. They had stock of quite rich collection of books from different authors. and,
2. Their BlueDart shipping was usually 2-3 days and they usually shipped the next day. Total turnaround time 4 days.
Recently I had a problem with flipkart just similar to what you’ve faced. One of the books had printing problems. Somewhere page was white and somewhere there was ink residuals which clearly showed there was problem in manufacturing of the book. I emailed their customer support and actually didn’t contacted them twice. After 7 days they called me and took the book name from me and said they would re-ship the book. But they didn’t do anything. It was a Rs. 55/- valued book so I didn’t quarelled with their support system.
I had ordered the same book in StackKart.com at even Rs. 10/- lesser price after searching the book name in Google. Then I got the book in nice print from StackKart in 9 days. They shipped 7 days later and their DTDC took 2 days.
Well, I’m not in mood of promoting StackKart or demoting FlipKart, but I have a neutral comment.
Buy cheapies from online and buy costies from offline where you can physically accept the condition.
For costies online, eBay IMHO is the good option because their nice customer support. But YMMV.

check ngpay. One of the coolest mall. Purchase right from ur mobile. i have several transactions with them, and i will describe 2 for reference.
1. Ordered HTC Flyer, got it in 2 days with SPECIAL PREMIUM DELIVERY service for only 20k. best deal still.
2. Returned them Galaxy Tab P620 as there was no IR Remote in it as advertised on their site, after using it for 15 days(not their fault but of samsung india). Full refund in 10 days. Good prices, genuine dealing.

Initially for some days they will showing a lot of goodness and then after a year or two after gaining some customer base & confidence start doing these dirty things. Actually it is not their fault. They are simply en cashing customer’\s laziness or some other weakness. ONLINE customers an appeal-please venture out, do shop hopping, find out prices and then buy, and by doing so you will develop a lovingness towards your things.

Well, its nothing such that all e-commerce sites are to loot people. Some are really good and who doesn’t faces problems? There are bad times with everyone, but they solve it. Like snapdeal, its good but does sometimes gets late in shipping or ships wrong products, but their support works quicker than their delivery team and supports. I am really sad that flipkart was unable to provide the proper support. I too have used them to order many products and had good experiences but what happened with you wasn’t really good. They must have provided proper support, atleast they must have read he name of the customer! 😉 They probably lose a lot of customers after this post. Well, good luck to them and hope they won’t create any problems further.

I too had a harrowing experience with flipkart over purchase of laptop. What I can say from my experience is that the company is not equipped to handle a problem, something uncharted – they don’t have a contingency plan. They have plan or format to deal with a situation. If there is a deviation, they can’t resolve the issue within a reasonable time limit.
I had made my purchase in early December. Unfortunately, there was some tech error and the money was stuck in the \gateway\. The Flipkart team (was quite prompt and) asked me provide a copy of my bank statement to show it to their \gateway\ that money has been deducted from my account. Its a process, they claimed, but sounded weird to me. I provided the required doc, but there was no acknowledgement. (What kind of official dealing is this..where you don’t acknowledge receipt of such a document.) Instead they kept on sending me more mails asking for a copy of my bank statement. The CC was also of no use either. He asked me to provide the bank statement again. I refused as there was no acknowledgement of receipt of previous doc and i am not sending such docs to farzi people. He had also said that their team would give me call back. I never received any call and i had to chase them myself. Finally, after over 40 minutes fight with the CCE in two languages one day, I was able to convince the CCE that he is of no use and he better connects me to his boss. That fellow heard my case and got the payment hassle cleared in 12 hrs time. HE CALLED BACK and confirmed that my shipment will reach me in a day’s time. Given that it was new year’s time, i read the one day as 2-3 days. So on 2nd of Jan 2012, I call Flipkart’s CC to enquire about the status of my shipment. And the CCE informs me that the product that i had ordered is OUT OF STOCK. I wrote wrote back once again saying that i am dragging them to Consumer court, asked a few friends in media to talk to the company people. Next morning, I see a mail has been sent overnight confirming shipment of my order. And i received my order that very day. As a friend had remarked after i had narrated the entire experience, \ghost of kicks, don’t listen to talks\. Drag them to consumer court or at least threaten them.

I have had a very bad experience with Seventy mm .com.Initially I placed an order for 23 items online, at a discounted price for My child.Immediately after 7 days they sent me 3 items and later started saying that they were unable to supply the rest since their vendor was delaying and asked me to have patience. they also gave false reasoning that the courier has left their warehouse and it shoud reach me anytime.Later they even said that their executive has carried the parcel himself and should be reaching anytime.this continued for 4 months, in the meanwhile I even was at Bangalore where their HO is and I asked to meet them and personally collect it from them. their Mumbai office also was surprised at the delay. Mr Manish and Mr Prabhakar initially handled the case ,but later I learnt that Mr Manish has quit the Organisation, so others started saying they would now handle it, which did not happen and they finally preferred to send Me the balance money even when I had asked them to send Me the items rather than the money, but still they went ahead saying goods were out of stock and vendor was not supplying them. but immediately thereafter I placed for an order when there was no discount and they sent me the same in a fortnight .this clearly shows that their advt is just to fool people and they then show their true colours.If you want to suffer like Me at the hands of Seventy mm , you may buy from them.

In India online stores are yet to grow to compete with offline markets……….flipkart is no exception on this front…..though I never purchased anything from flipkart……nd after reading this I never will……….nd in terms of Customer support I don’t think any Indian online store can beat ebay’s support. one more thing is clearly visible to get your work done on time escalation is necessary…It also seems to me from your last para of post that flipkart team has exerted so much pressure on u to amend your post to make it more positive towards flipkart…but anyways for me flipkart is more like flopkart………:)

Flipkart is selling cellphones at price which is almost same as the local vendor,
Flikpar is good for buying books online, previously shipping was free for total amount of 100 Rs or above. But now that limit is increased to 200 Rs.

I think that’s what a lot of unnecessary money can make a good person or company go wrong. Till they received the vc funding, their service, support, price was quite good.
Now they don’t have discounts except for few categories, They don’t deliver products to all the places in India, Service is getting deteriorated.
If this can happen to a person with so much of influence on his readers online, then think what about people without any such power. I don’t even think they will care to resolve the issue.

I am really surprised that flipkart.com supported this cause.
I too had a bad issue where my order was not delivered to me but I had to wait 3 months for a refund. And only after 83 calls and legal notice to FlipKart Customer Service…

I agree that flipkart is super priced than any other online shopping site. I have purchased a couple of times from flipkart and the transaction was smooth enough. But the experience with yebhi was too good, I have made returns on yebhi for two products and I have got refund from them before I expected. I compare many sites before buying I recently bought a jabra easy go with yebhi and I got it for 1119Rs as I had a 1000 off on purchases over 1999 and this is supercool. But flipkart never gives coupons. It is high time you stop advertising on TV and start giving out coupons to your existing customers. This will save you money and convert to sales. I am a regular customer of Flipkart. Few months earlier i had ordered for a Sony Xperia S
(White) .In the site They had mentioned that we can opt for COD.(http://www.flipkart.com/sony-xperia-s-mobile-phone/p/itmd8b6msmpxrdpu?pid=MOBD8EGGRDWYA5ZC). I just opted for COD and they had confirmed my order.after 2 days i called them and asked about my order and they told me its already shipped and i will receive it in 2-3 days.After 2 days i again called up to confirm my delivery, they told me that my order was cancelled.I was shocked and asked for a reason.The reason they told me was that the courier company wont accept COD for more that rs. 25000. The reason was acceptable, but if that is the case then why they put that option in their site for this product?(You can check it in above link. That option is still available). In addition to that i had never received any Email or phone calls regarding the cancellation of my order. Also the order status in my profile is also not updated.
PS: That was my first and last negative experience from Flipkart.I had bought products before and after that.Till today no other issues was met with.Also I would like to mention that once i got my product delivered within 24 hours!!!.
Also, i bought my Sony Xperia S from nearby shop(with almost 1000 rs more than flipkart).

I hate flipkart. At first they used to deliver the products before 3 days ( It is written below stock 3 days) now they deliver those type of products ( which is marked 3 days) very late. Some times even 12 days are taken.

I know my comment will be deleted , but here is the ugly truth about flipkart. As many users I also faced the same problem, low in-voice call volume .
Here is my story :
I got it 12th oct back, 2 days later I sent a mail regarding this, I received a call from customer care, he was so trained that he made me clear that they will pick up the next day itself and refund all the money , I was like wow so good customer care. Now , i get a mail after 1 day that it will be picked up in 3-5 business days ,I said ok no problem, also the mail had description that pack the mobile blah blah . after 4 days ( business days) i sent another mail to customer care that what is going on, i recieved a mail sorry sir , give us 1-2 days we will come back to you . this is 4th day no reply. And as you search on net I am not the only 1 who is taken by these frauds.
Seriously go outside and buy from shops or even ebay is so good, there Guarantee is real Guarantee not like fraud flipkart.
Also i am not going to give back the mobile now , dont know whether my money will come or not. I can live with defective mobile other than chasing flipkart for money , seriously guys search google you will find people who havnt received there money even after months . FRAUD FLIPKART .

I too agree with you on this. Flipkart services and particularly prices are not good at all. Other online shopping sites are selling much more cheaper. The reason, I think, is their aggressive marketing budget.
Not only customers, they are also cheating their affiliates. Their affiliate tracking system is not recording the clicks and sales.
I think its downhill time for flipkart now. They are cheating both customers and affiliates.

I ordered an hdd from flipkart for 5k. They didn’t ship the product for a week, and when i asked. They said that the product is not in stock and that my order will be cancelled and i’ll get a refund. Why did they take the order if the item was not in stock. I was supposed to get the refund after 7 days. After a week when i asked about the refund, they said it’ll take another 13 days. will i ever get my money back? what will i do if they keep extending the date…..

I was never aware of this ascept of flipkart
but after reading this post and as some of my frnds told me before now i am felling as other online sites are much better than flipcart,high prices and bad services to customers will soon put it at risk.
Thank god i neva orderd anything from flipkart..!!
