“Obama is coming this way, clear the way for him”…were the words uttered by a crowd of cheering tribesmen when Obama was welcomed back to his father’s ancestral homeland in Luo Land, western Kenya in the village of Nyangoma Kogelo in recent past. Barack Obama had risen to political prominence after dealing with a bunch of corrupt men, The Mount Kenya Mafia who are responsible for crushing down the beautiful land of Kenya. At the interview “”Meet The Press” in the NBC, Obama intimated that he had plans to run for the United States Presidency in 2008.
Barack Obama Born in Honolulu, Hawaii, on August 4, 1961, Barack Hussein Obama is the junior United States Senator. He is from Illinois. He serves the U.S. Senate as the only African American Senator. Barack Obama was a student of Harvard Law School and of Columbia University. He worked as a university lecturer, lawyer of civil rights, community organizer before taking up public office. He launched his campaign in 2003 in the U.S Senate, he served in the Illinois Senate in 2003.
At the Democratic National Convention in 2004, Obama delivered the keynote address while still at the helm of duties as a state legislator. The U.S. Senate elections were won by him in November 2004. Brack Obama also acted as the co-sponsor of the transparency legislation, conventional weapons enactment. He made trips to Europe, Africa and Middle East on official purposes. At the 110th Congress, he has sponsored legislation on climate change, nuclear terrorism, electoral fraud and lobbying. In his Presidential campaign in 2007, Obama was heard professing to end the Iraq War, providing health care facilities universally, spurting the growth of energy independence as priority issues.
Barack Obama is otherwise known for authoring two books, Dreams from My Father, a personal memoir and observations on U.S political scene, Audacity of Hope. Writing about Obama as a political leader in March, 2007, the Washington Post has to say that he was the person who could move the country far beyond the cultural wars. Yet, Obama who describes his political inclinations as a “Democrat” was criticized for his political actions. Peggy Noonan, in December 2006, Wall Street Journal, commented that it was too early to feel excited about Obama’s political career.
John McCain
John McCain, a senior Senator in the U.S is from Arizona. He is a candidate for the nomination of the Republican Party in the Presidential Election of 2008. McCain’s father and grandfather were in the United State Navy as Admirals. McCain flew attack aircraft and became a naval aviator. In 1967 in the bombing mission over North Vietnam, he was injured. He also became a prisoner of war and underwent a captivity of over five years. There were periods of torture. After he moved to Arizona, retiring from the Navy, he entered politics. He was elected to the House of Representatives in the U.S. from Arizona’s Congressional District. He was also elected to the U.S Senate in 1986. He was also re elected as the Senator between 1992 and 2004.
McCain was a candidate in the presidential election but he was defeated for the republican nomination by George Bush in a very closely combated battle. In the presidential election of 2000 he was the front runner but there was a collapse in 2007 in his campaign due to financial issues. He has planned a robust comeback in 2008. McCain announced his candidacy in the 2008 Presidential nomination on 28th February in 2007. It was telecast on the Late Show with David Letterman. McCain had started this Presidential campaign officially on 25th April, 2007. McCain is 72 years old presently and if he wins the election in 2008, he would be the oldest person to attain presidency.
McCain’s strong points as a presidential candidate, 2008 would include, a recognition of national name, major lobbying sponsorship and campaign finance reform, his experience as a POW and his experience as a presidential campaign in 2000, his fundraising abilities. McCain was born in 1936, on August 29 at the Coco Solo Air Base to John S. “Jack” McCain, Jr. and Roberta (Wright) McCain. McCain had to move to different places in the first few years of his life. McCain attended St Stephen’s School in Virginia.
