BarCamp5 Google Hyderabad First Session Updates

ADVERTISEMENTS

The BarCamp5 was started at around 10:15AM when the first boring session to be frank started unlike our SEO Meet which i organised had a introduction session in the beginning following by some general discussions before any general presentations were given. To be frank the first session seriously started out to be a very boring one and i was amazed with the number of attenders for the BarCamp5 because the list on the BarCamp5 Blog shown around 350+ names and in real i guess there were around 150-200 people, though i dont have any official number regarding the same. The website announced that there would be some “Main sessions” during the morning hours and there was no detail information on this , but when the sessions started they were not of my niche/type. May be this is just my view by thats what i can talk about the morning session and iam sure the organisers would feel about it but well there is no point is posting some lies :p

The Second presentation was from Ramesh Rajamani who was from Compassites Software Solutions Bangalore who was discussing about low cost business set up with high performance, unlimited storage expansions & Reducing network latency. How to increase performance of applications by memory clustering and using MemCached for high-performance, distributed memory and replicated hash table which can help you in replicating and caching the memory. Some information on how to reduce latency by offering global user access, route the user to the nearest data center, transperant grid computing and scaleable messaging.

Next presentation was from Janaki Ram which was based on Microsoft Silverlight. Complete information, previews and review about it, though i personally felt he was trying to promote this Microsoft’s product at Google’s Location and may be he was paid for it :D, may be didnt find really something useful because the Silverlight site would give the same information @ microsoft.com.

Next we had a Tea-Break at 11:50 PM for 10 minutes which went upto 20minutes and still counting…

Now its time for us to enjoy a session from Labnol.org owner Amit Agarwal [Digital Inspiration] which is a 4 years old blog and he was working in hyderabad 5 years back and now is a professional blogger. The Presentation was on “How to Build a Sucessful Blog” and “Mobile Blogging”. Followed are some important points related to this presentation : Writing a Personal Blog

Hey BTW i cannot forget how much these guys were trying to promote their 12 hours old hydblogs.in which was shown as a place where all the bloggers can interact and create a network but well dont forget about my next Indian Bloggers project which would be a 100 times more better technology, branding and design wise. Just a quick point i would like to say that Google didnt make me leave any negative comment because they were perfect in their job except offering a hot place rather than a Airconditioned hall.Lets get back to this post when we the second and last session is completed.

  1. You can’t expect every camp to be interesting. Half the timeu wud be finding some or the other promotions going on. BTW one thg which I noticed is absence of discussion on how to make more money or improve the qaulity of blogging. lol.. Am i asking too much? :)

  2. First session was very informational to many of us. It was a pure dev. topic, which perhaps was beyond you.

  3. @ namrata : I guess you need to take reviews from others too before you point out on a single attender :), I can show you a lot of real guys who attended this meet and were not satisfied, Do you want me to let them post more reviews? We obviously didnt come out for hearing what new sites some guys are launching because there are a lot of new social networking sites launched daily, who needs them anymore? Try to make something which people would talk about not something which people dont need any more.

  4. Dude,

Of course many already complained that the AC wasnt working in that room. Had you posted your comment/complained to any of the Google/organizers there or used the whiteboard to post your gripes?

That was definitely below the belt.

    About your comment on HydBlogs.in:
Of course it was a 12 hour old site and definitely version 0.1. We are fulltime entrepreneurs and eking out our living working on code, not designing fancy scmanzy websites. Our only point with the site was to compile the list of all the people who attended the camp. And yes we are looking for anyone who can add more value.

Would love it if you can share your technology-branding-design with us. Or host it online so that we can all migrate our data to your site. No issues, ours is just a work of love & passion.

  5. @Amit wrt Namrata’s comment:
When it was already posted in the wiki that the sessions were primarily on OpenSource, Tech & Product Demos, what were you expecting to listen to - A Full Day Camp on SEO???

Good grief, why dont you get your expectations right first?

No one is really interested whether u guys are programmers or decoders. If urs is out of love and passion so are the other guys who are there. You don’t design sites but u still have a site for ur self. Interesting

    1. hydblog.in was a functional site with a definite purpose for the camp - to compile a list of hyderabad bloggers. and you are more than welcome to run a site which is gazillion times more user friendly, better branding and ui wise - and greater if you can share the data for us all to use. as i said, we can surely use more help from outside our small group of planners.

hmmm… which site are we talking about here? my wordpress blog? since when was it unlawful for non-designers have a blog for themselves? i do basic programmer design but nowhere in the world do i fool myself into thinking im anywhere near a designer who will be paid money to do so :D

  8. Hi Amit,
Thanks for sitting through my session ;-). Yes, you can certainly find all the information that I gave from the Silverlight site. My intention was to show/demo the capabilities of Silverlight that you may not find easily on the websites. I wanted to keep it fast paced while covering the key scenarios that Silverlight addresses. I avoided using the PowerPoint presentation because I didn’t want to bore my audience with data/gyan :-)

  9. The Demo was nice but tell me whats the use of Silverlight on Indian average broadband speeds of 128-256 kbps? It will obviously take for a webpage to take hell lot of time to load if there are couple videos on the pages and if 3-4 seconds of preview has to load, Also i guess many new video sharing sites are already offering the same services @ video previews on mouse overs.

  10. Silverlight primarily addresses two scenarios - 1)Media intergration; 2) Rich Internet Applications. If you recall my Airlines demo, it had no video in it. Silverlight’s strength is in empowering the developers to write code in their favorite language. You can code in any language that includes JavaScript, C# or VB. We also support Ruby and Python in the form of IronRuby and IronPython implementations. More languages would be supported soon.

I never said it is unlawful. The way u were talking it looked as though u were trying to say that programming is better than jst ‘eking’ a living from a site. Thats the reason i tried to correct u on that. And I think this time around u shud be getting ur understanding of others comments proporely? ;)(no pun intended)

Seriously I am not against the Hydblogs site. Gud initiative from who ever it is.

  12. May be you guys should try to remove the bugs in hydblogs site , where in most wordpress.com based blogs are showing RSS/Feed errors etc, may be moderating all the blogs etc.
