Reliance Big Digital TV DTH Review

    While I comeplete agree with what Amit has to say, I think BIG TV is going to redefine the way we consume content on television. With their superior technology and array services it is surely the most anticiapted product which I am waiting to get a grab on. Having said that how can one forget that it belongs to the stable of Relaince ADA group, so am expecting nothing but the best from my BIG TV.

    we have been using Big TV for last two months. Big TV DTH out stands without comparison in its sound picture clarity and sound quality. Great offers, top ups, and special offer for the southern states makes the customer to choose of their choice. But how far it will reach the middle class people due to the cost of the packages. We are not clear what we are to pack up with once the free packages are over as per our choice of our offer. Big TV stands for ‘paid well, served well’

    john must be one of the customer selected for test trials. there is a market testing to improve your product. Reliance have also carried the alpha test to understand and improve the flaws in ther market offering. stop guessing.

    The toll free number doesnot work. i have been trying for last four days. I finally dialled the mumbai number (made an STD call). I was on hold for 10 minutes. gave up.

    i have registered for the Big TV product a week back through their web site. They told me that within 48 hrs their people will be in contact with me.I have waited for a week nothing happened.
    Starting is slipping. but this is unusual for Reliance.

    It is true, BIG TV toll free number is not working. I sent them SMS request, but “No Reply”. My next step was to contact Reliance Web World. I gave my frank feedback about their call center and Store Manager agreed for installation within 3 hours and I got BIG TV at my place.
    BIG TV as promised has very high picture quality and sound quality, especially it is pleasure watching it on my Samsung Series 6 LCD TV (100 HZ FULL HD TV with 50000:1 contrast ratio). I dont know, whether others can get same effect on normal CRT TV.
    I would recommend BIG TV for the guys, who would like to see high definition picture quality on their LCD

    I had purchased BIG TV dth service from R World store at RS Puram Coimbatore on 26/08/2008

    Vide creditcard.

    After taking the payment I was told that set top box is not ready and can be collected the very next day and installation will not
    take not more than three days and they have not given me any receipt for the payment made. After many visits and phonecalls i
    was given a set topbox and on the sameday I had calledup your service center and I was given a workorder
    NO:0000000000908568 on date 01/09/2008 but so far even after 11 days nobody have turned up for Installation and Activation.

    I had called up your customer care no and complained 2 times and i was told that the normal time for Installation and Activation
    is three days. I had repeatedly called the sales person at R World Mr.Prince and your Store incharge Mr.Shaiju on phone and
    even after several visit to your R World there is no one to give a solution.

    So kindly arrange to refund my amount of Rs2190/- immediately of me surrendering my settop box at your R world in RS Puram
    The staff at your R World are so courteous that they do not answer my Calls to their mobile nos.

    I was at your R World today and your staff are saying to new enquiries for your dth service Max time for Installation and Activation is four days.What a Big LIE

    Some are praising and some are scolding BigTv.

    In my view its just another DTH operator in the market. Coming to call centers and website, I also experienced problems. But it may some time for them to resolve these initial hiccups :).

    But be careful b4 taking BIG. Even though the offers are tempting, if you are not wise you will be charged hefty.

    My advice is 2 wait 2 more months. Let Airtel and videocon come into war. So, we will have more options 🙂

    Dont waste your time. Simply file case in consumer court. You will get your money back along with some additional money for cheating you also :)…just try it

    My friend subscribed for Big tv connection 3 weeks ago and it took around 6-7 days for installation, even i were also planned to go for Big tv subscription but i postponed bcoz of some issues. then last week i booked big tv stb and after calling their customer care service for installation within next 3 days their guy came for installation and now i am enjoying the MPEG 4 picture quality. in short i just wanted to say i found good improvement in big tv service may be they are adding more man power

    Big TV DTH Rocks!!
    Hi, i just wanted to share my experince with big tv dth service . I bought the whole kit on friday 29th and called their Customer care for installation, after calling their service engineer came in next 5 hrs. he installed the whole system and turned it on (must say well trained service engineer). from last two days we are enjoying best quality of picture and sound. As I subscribed for max 4990 plan I am enjoying all channels. But I was amazed last night when it was raining. I thought now its gone as I have heard by many dth users that signal went down for long time during rain, i thought it will be same for Big tv. But I was wrong BIG tv’s signal was perfect as clear as usual, yeah for some 2-3 seconds it went down but their message appeared on tv screen suggesting “due to rain link can go down.” But it was working perfect. i am happy after using big tv, it is best DTH service in rainy days (I know monsoon is almost gone, still it is best) many dth are showing signal down during normal weather, but BIG TV is big time

    big tv is a BIG bullshit, i suggest not to even think about it forget buying. i purchased it, opting for a premium pack but they activated my connection as a popular pack, after complaining many times i got a solution that the package could not be changed and nothing can be done. the set-top box a real disapointment, it always hangs. i have dish tv as well, dish tv far better tha big tv.

    Dear All – I am a Media Technology Consultant and have worked on the making and launching of digital TV services, recently involved with the latest newcomer to the market (can not write the name – NDA !!). I was surfing on feedbacks on the Dig. TV services and found equal measures of satisfaction levels amongst all.

    Few things: –

    1. Someone mentioned that he is enjoying the service more as he ahs a HD tv. You will be happy to know that no service in India provides HD quality streaming to your TV. Hence, even if you have a HD TV you wud not be able to realize the actual HD quality. However, you feel the difference from a non – HD tv as the pixel rate is more then others. – Simple isn’t. it has nothing to do with the DTH. 😀

    2. Guys – every service provider use the same uplink – what matters is the STB and backend appliations quality. However, more or less all of them have the same infra and support. If u still wnt to make a choice – Tata Sky can be trusted.

    My advice is dont go for Big tv.we bought big tv 0n sep 3rd ,they took 1 week for installation .it has worked for 10 days after that the stb has got hanged.we gave complaint on 23 rd sep but till now nobody came to solve problem.if we call to customer they will tell that it will be solved with in 48 hours.Daily we have been calling they r telling same thing.we r frustated with big tv.please dont go for big tv.itsssss BIG BULLSHIT.I planning to go for consumer court ,can any give suggestions how to procced?.

      dont worry if they dont listen consumer court is the bestest option.i had a nokia phone service problem..these guys after 2 ro 3dates came rushing when the magistrate told them to refund the entire cost of the cell phone.
      1.u got to know what area your consumer court is catering..every district or area has a diff.consm crt.
      2.there is a simple form obtainabl from the court cleark for free.
      3.120 rs or so is the post order u need to stick with your complaint
      3.complaint needs a bill for the service,who are u seeking the remidey from i.e the party u wana involve.
      subject matter crisp n pricise.
      magistrate listens to people who are genuenly affected however if u have a friend who s a lawyer still better as he cn stand by u at the time of hearing
      complaint with simple subuject line,yr ph no.see when yr date is n go there.
      need to b pricise n point wise completed with a simple oath in the end that all facts uv mentioned are correct to \the best of yr knowledge,n dont forget to address the magistrate of the area where uv taken the service from i.e the dish tv vendors area is yr area which that perticular court caters to .

      dont get hasseled just a matter of 2 3 hearings n each hearing takes 1 to 2 hrs n they will give u refund for sure n dont forget to ask for penalty for yr time n agony faced ,this has to be negotiated in front of the magistrate,.all this seem complex but just make a draft ,yr 3 copies of compl\aint ,with photocopy of relevenat documants like bills.Post office order of 120 rs or so..copies in triplet..just 2 or 3 trips ask for short dates n see them come down on kneesssssss…..riteee

    From someone who has learned the lesson the hardway:

    Please stay the hell away from Big TV:

    I suscribed few weeks back after paying the dealer Rs.2190 & wa promised the channels in the list to be available for a year (which included HBO, neo sports ect..)

    After a month, they cut those channels saying they are only pay channels & I need to shell out more than Rs.200 extra.

    Moreover , if you want to cancel the service, those nice guys in the customer care will tell you repeatedly that “THERE IS NO SUCH OPTION” meaning they screwed you already so better bear it quietly now . HA HA.

    I think the Reliance mobile fraud is reformatted and presented once again in the new avatar as Big Tv to dupe the customers all over again.

    There is a saying “there is a sucker born every minute” . As much as it hurts me I have to admit that in my case it proved right.

    All I can do is to warn you guys : BETTER BE CAREFUL before you select their products.

    Beware of Reliance Big TV engineers cheating you
    Big Tv installation engineers cheated me of 200 rs. If you take the 2190 package you get two vouchers for Rs.500 and rs. 200. The engineer who installed the channels used my coupons for installations and used the rs.500 to upload my package to 1990 and used the 200 to update some one else package. In the first month all the channels work so you wont notice a thing. After the first month is when you will notice what channels are missing. The result I was fleeced of rs.200 . When I phoned the customer care I got a complaint number 80583037 but the customer care told me that they cannot do anything about it and the supervisor tells me that I should put up with it and pay the rs.200 bucks.
    It is not the rs.200 that matter but I hate the insolence and high handedness of the people after having cheated you. This is a good product but I feel very sorry for having bought it now

    The customer care is the worst from Reliance Big TV. We registered our complaint one week before and still its not resolved.
    The worst part is they have closed saying its resolved and updated wrongly in their records saying somebody had come and nobody actually came. Reliance BIg TV has to really improve their customer care Its been the worst one

    First of all, i would request everybody not to even think @ big TV. They are biggest cheaters. I purchased big TV recently and paid Rs 2190 to the service provider of big TV. He informed that we will get all 146 channels with plan of Rs 2190, being dewali offer .We got all the 146 channels for 10-12 days and there after all of a sudden entire channels disconnected. On enquiry it was informed that they are refreshing my connection. After almost 7 days,though was connected but to my surprise,all Zee & some sports channels were not coming which earlier were coming.On inquiry .it was informed that with that plan these channels will not be received, If required then we have to pay extra. In my opinion,to compete with other DTH service providers, they are intially connecting all he channels and after 15 days or so, they are disconneting some of the channels for more money.If they demand higher money initially, then in that case ,Big TV can not compete with TATA sky or Dish TV directly.As such, bidding customers should clarify everything initially ,get the receipt of money they are paying,which Big TV generally does not provide, see that you get connection in your own name only,and get details of the channels in writting because later on they can minimise nos of channels stating that your plan does not cover disconnected channels, intilly what you were getting was a trial pack.No where in their brouchure ,it is mentioned that customers intially will get trial pack for 15 Days& after words their regular channels as per their plan. There is no one in their customer care or otherwise to respond sincerely to customers complains.
    MY ONE LINE ADVISE TO CUSTOMERS”PL DO NOT GO FOR BIG TV”.
    DTH quality of all the other service provders is almost same.

    Guys dont even think of buying a big tv connection. These ppl are simply luring its customers thru idiotic offers. 10 reasons for not buying a BIG tv connection
    1) Zero customer care
    2) No information to customer abt plans
    3) No way for customer to check his plans
    4) Vague billing system
    5) USB option is of no use
    6) No support for assigning favorites
    7) Frequent changing plan tariffs
    8) Very slow processing when using remote
    9) No solution for complaints
    10) Some buttons of remote dont even work……
    In total, BIG TV is simply not worth buying…………

    Big tv is really a fraud case. I took a subscription of 4990 and i came to know 2490 pack is active for me after 3 months. After many complaints, they close the complaints without any relevant information. Reliance started big TV to cheat people after reliance mobile. Nobody has responsibility towards customers in Reliance. Please don’t go for Big TV.

    Thanks Mr Bhawani for your updates.I am also of the same opinion that Big TV is really a big fraud.I also purchased Big during Diwali.It was told that in your subscription ,you will get all channels as desired by me..I informed that your subscription which i am purchasing does not include the channels i am desiring.They said that all chananels as desired by you are now given under Diwali offer.I asked them to install it and show me that all channels are coming.They did the same and after 15 days my chananels are changed and now i am getting channels excluding which i was demanding during installation.When inquired BIG TV informed that you got all for 15 only as trial , nothing further can be done..If you want to get channels of your choice.you have further go for top up.That extra cost.I did compaintants to their mumbai office also.but nobody is replying.I think this how they are cheating with their all customers as a strategy.Lot of peole have same complains.Pl see how we can do anything against these people together.

    hello sir, sir me big tv dth ka saat mahine se customer hu, sir me mumbai me mira road rahata hu, abhi tak mere dth sahi chal raha tha, lekin ab jab se baarish chalu hua hai tab se mere dth ka signal chala jaata hai,baarish hota hai toh signal chala jaata hai aur jab baarish band hota hai toh signal aajata hai,is wajah se mera tv show miss ho jaata hai, is liye sir pls pls pls aap mere problem ko dur kare,sir mere problem ko jaldi se jaldi thik kare,

    Don’t even think of going for Big TV unless you don’t want a connection. They are totally useless people. I booked a HD connection a month back the fellow from Rayan Enterprise came in the next day to collect the amount Rs. 5500/- (Should be only 4999/-) and gave me a scratch card of free Big tv and said the installation guys will come the next day to install. I called them almost 5 times a day for 15 days but no one ever came. Then one fine day a guy comes with the set top box and says he is here only to deliver and the installation guys will follow. But no one has ever come for a month. Now though after reminding everyday since then the guys refuses to give me a refund. And if i call the reliance help line they say i should go to the address on the reciept and take the refund. They can’t do much about it. It is a scam.

    its the worst service i have ever seen.i have a BIG TV connection i called up customer care on 30th of november.i have asked for the replacement of a Remote for my BIG TV connection as the remote was not working. agent informed me that it would cost me 225 rs and asked me not to pay to the technition as the amount would be deducted from the big TV account directly.
    after 2 days technition came home with a USED remote for replacement. when asked he told that this is 225 rs and if i want a new one that would cost me 350 rs. i immediately contacted customer care and they told me that it would cost me 225 only and they even spoke to the technition. technition said that he would bring a new one and he did not return till now.
    it has become an regular act for me to contact BIGtv customer care for the replacement of the remote and they say that they have forwarded the request and necessary action would be taken.today when i called up customer care they said that technician did not come to your home as i have rejected to pay for the replacement,which i never did.
    the issue is still not resolved.i stilll did not get the remote.

    i think the company has got too much business that it does not care for existing customers. if the company cannot repalce a remote(with charge) then I think we all know its time to lookout for a new one now.

    NEVER SEEN SUCH AN “AWESOME” SUPPORT TILL NOW.

    It all started with “Sir your request no. is ************ and will be resolved within 72 hours”. In Reality – more than 220 hours and still counting……. Surly speaking you will be training yourself for patience while tackling with these guys. If you have got a lot of useless time and you are a ocean of patience (even if you are not i am pretty sure you will be – take my words), just go for BIG TV or Reliance Digital TV.

    Cons:
    1. Worst Service
    2. False commitments
    3. Untrained technical staff (These guys even dont properly know how to properly activate)
    4. Multiple request/ complaint numbers for one problem (I got almost 5 complaint numbers for a single NON TECHNICAL problem. So you can fairly guess how much time they are gonna take for TECHNICAL PROBLEMS )
    5. Zero Refunds of deductions wrongly made even when there is no mistakes from customer side.
    6. Poor Hardware quality
    7. Paid iGames (Not a major issue)
    8. Mostly Flop or old movies on imovies (even they are paid)
    9. Poor Interface

    Pros:
    1. Perfect for unemployed people (As they have ample of time to tackle with).
    2. Perfect for guys lacking patience (You will surely possess wisdom of patience).

    Actually there are some pros:

    1. Resonable Tariff
    2. Good picture quality
    3. Big Dish as compared to other DTH
    4. You can manage stock portfolio on istock

    But pray everyday that you get no chance to reach customer care

    I Am Fully dis satisfy from the services of reliance big TV. The customer care centre of this company is also a helpless to customer care centre. first of all they lodged the complaint when customer spend a long time to logded the complaint & They can closed the complaint without any action taken. I have lodged the complaint on 10/06/2011 but still i facing problem & call the customer care daily but there is no action on then complaint. So I request to all customer or to be new customer to think about this big company
