  • How do I find news feeds?

    Quickly find up-to-the-minute coverage of the world events that matter most to you. Thousands of news sources, RSS (Really Simple Syndication is a publishing format that websites use to easily distribute, or syndicate, content to a wide audience. You can add RSS feeds to an RSS reader to make finding news easier. Some RSS readers are web-based, while other readers are separate downloads that run on your computer.) feeds, and blogs are at your fingertips.

    To find news articles and blogs:

    1. Go to http://www.bing.com/.
    2. Above the search box, click News.
    3. In the search box, type the keywords for the news event that you want to find.
    4. Click the search button Search or press ENTER.

    To find websites that offer RSS feeds:

    1. Go to http://www.bing.com/.
    2. In the search box, type a news event.
    3. Click the search button Search or press ENTER.
    4. On the toolbar above the search results, click RSS. If Feeds isn’t available on the toolbar, click More, click See all, and then click Feeds.
  • How can I find multimedia on the web?
    1. Find videos, pictures, and music from popular artists
    2. Bing makes it easy to follow the careers of your favorite artists. Their latest music, videos, and pictures are just a search away.

    Find videos – Search for a specific video:

    1. Go to http://www.bing.com/.
    2. In the search box, type the name or a description of the video that you want to find and then click Videos.
    3. To see a preview of a video, point to the video that you want to watch.

    To view the full-length video, click the video that you want to watch.

    Find pictures and images

    1. Go to http://www.bing.com/.
    2. Above the search box, click Images.
    3. In the search box, type the name or a description of the pictures that you want to find, and then click the search button Search or press ENTER.

    Find music
    We’ve got the latest music at music.msn.com and WindowsMedia.com. Or, you can search for tunes on Bing. To search for music on Bing:

    1. Go to http://www.bing.com/.
    2. In the search box, type the name or a description of the music that you want to find.
    3. Click the search button Search or press ENTER.
  • How can I customize my search?
    If you’ve done a search and want to narrow the results, you can use Bing’s advanced search option to help.
  • At the top of your search results page, click advanced to open the advanced search box.
  • Choose the parameters of your search. You can look for results by:
    1. Limit your search to a specific site, such as Microsoft.com, or to a root domain, such as edu, gov, com, net, org. You can also limit your search to country- or region-specific domains, such as uk and de. country/region
    2. Limit your results to websites from specific countries or regions.

    • All of these terms: Uses an AND (A search keyword that you can use to find results that contain all the search terms you specify.) operation. Ignores punctuation and stop words (Words that are frequently used, but that do not offer descriptive value to search engines. For example, a, of, and the are considered stop words.) .
    • Any of these terms: Uses an OR (A search keyword that you can use to find results that contain either of the search terms that you specify.) operation. Ignores punctuation and stop words.
    • This exact phrase: Searches for the exact phrase, including punctuation and stop words.
    • None of these terms: Uses a NOT (A search keyword that you can use to find results that don’t contain a search term you specify.) operation. The NOT operation groups the terms within parentheses, including punctuation and stop words.

    1. A movie’s website: Search for the studio or company that produced the film. Studio websites often link to official movie sites on their main page.
    2. Show times for a movie: Search for the name of your local movie theater.
    3. A specific product’s website: Search for the manufacturer’s website. The manufacturer’s website will link to the product’s website or webpage.
    4. A company’s website: Search for the company name. Remember that some companies may hyphenate their Web address or add “the” to the front of their web address.
    5. Your favorite artist’s official website: Search for the artist’s name followed by the phrase official site.

    With Bing you can easily get back to the searches you’ve done and the sites you’ve visited using search history.
    What is search history?
    Search history helps you quickly and easily return to your most recent searches. Search history shows the words you searched for and the sites you may have visited, along with the date and time of your search. You can turn it off search history at any time, and then easily turn it back on. And you can choose to clear certain searches or clear them all with a simple click.

    How search history works
    Search history starts as soon as you search on Bing and will continue to grow for the duration of your current browser session, with a maximum session time of 48 hours, unless you choose to turn search history off. You’ll see your most recent search history on the left side of the search results page. To see your entire search history for the current browser session, click see all under your history.
