BSNL 3G India – Prepaid & Postpaid Tariff Plans
Much awaited 3G services by Bharat Sanchar Nigal Limited (BSNL) is now on a roll at the moment. They are ruling out 3G Services for all parts of India region by region. It was first Kerala to get BSNL 3G, then services covered Bangalore, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, all metro cities like Chennai, Delhi, Kolkatta and Mumbai within a short span of time. For those who don’t know, BSNL 3G is a upgraded services like rich voice, video and data services like mobile broadband, video conferencing, online gaming, TV services and other to take mobile generation to next level. So here is the BSNL 3G Tariffs and Plans so that you choose your plans accordingly and make a convenient choice.
The good news is that BSNL 3G is available for Prepaid and Postpaid and also to new customer and existing customers (they need to migrate from 2G to 3G).
Initial SIM Charges:
You can get a BSNL 3G SIM for just Rs 59 including all service tax and other other fees. And existing users can Rs 59 and migrate from 2G to 3G with no other charges. Remember the validity of this is 7 days. So within 7 days you need to choose your BSNL 3G plan.
Prepaid Plans:
Prepaid customers can go with 3G Prepaid General Plan or with Promotion Plan (will tell you latter in the post) as of now, With 3G General Plan you should first recharge (FRC) with Rs 120 which has the validity of 120 days and gives you Rs 20 free usage. With that recharge your Local calls on net will be Rs 0.50 instead of standard Rs 0.70 whereas STD on net will be Rs 0.60 instead of Rs 0.80, video calls are charged at Rs 0.70 for Local and Rs 1.00 for STD video calls. SMS charges are applied as Local SMS Rs 0.40 where as national at Rs 0.60. Good things is Data transfer charges for 10KB is Rs 0.01, i.e., 1MB for Rs 1.
Postpaid Plans:
Postpaid customers have lot of plans to choose from ranging from Plan 99 to Plan 1500. For all those plans a general activation fee is Rs 100 and you needn’t pay any registration fees & security deposit. With Plan 99 local calls & STD calls on net and off net would be Rs 0.49 and as you choose a further higher amount plan your local and STD call rates are still slashed with Plan 1500 you get a fixed monthly rental of 1500 and local calls on net would be free whereas for off net its would be Rs 0.20 and for STD calls on net is free and off net its Rs 0.30. Choosing Plan 525 and higher you also have Night Calling on all BSNL is free so that you can talk unlimited for free. With an Optional SMS Pack (to reduces rates per SMS) worth Rs 99 you 1500 Free SMS on net and Free 500 SMS on net. Good things is Data transfer charges for 10KB is Rs 0.01, same as that of Prepaid.
3G Postpaid Data Plans & Prepaid Data Recharge Vouchers:
With First Monthly Coupon (FMC) or Data Recharge Vouchers (RCV) of Rs 249 you get a free usage of 0.5 GB with a validity of 30 days and you are charged at Rs 1 per MB if you extend beyond 0.5GB. With FMC Rs 399 you get 1GB free usage with 30 days validity and Data charges beyond 1GB are Rs 0.50 per MB. And FMC of Rs 549, Rs 649, Rs 899, Rs 1099, Rs 1299, Rs 1699, Rs 1999, Rs 2499 are available with each one validity is 30 days. With Rs 2499 Data Recharge you get Unlimited usage with 30 days validity and if you wanna opt for night unlimited internet you can opt for Rs 1999 recharge vouchers. Also you can recharge with available Top Ups like Rs 109 with 100 MB free, Rs 225 with 300MB data usage, Rs 260 with 500 MB data usage and Rs 325 with 1GB data usage.
BSNL 3G uses third party data card, you need to purchase them and their prices are. Teracom USB data cards price for Single Band (3.6 MBPS) is Rs 2500 whereas for Tri Band (7.2 MBPS) is Rs 3000. And with using HSDPA data cards which can be inserted in PCMCIA port which laptops have, Capitel Wireless Pvt. Ltd Single Band costs Rs 4000 whereas Tri Band cost is Rs 4500.
Promotional Offers
As a part of BSNL 3G launch promotion, customer who purchase 3G Data card will get free data usage of 6 GB per month which is splitted into 1GB/day usage for the month and 5GB night usage for exactly two months from the date of activation of BSNL 3G SIM.

U have mentioned that in the prepaid plan that it cost 10MB for 1 rupee. I guess thats wrong. 10KB cost 1 paise means for 1 rupee u get 1MB alone and not 10MB.

1. after every use, you get an on-screen free data balance in KB’s
2. yes, you can use your 3g mobile to access internet…but while recharging/doing topup through bsnl ppl, mention that you have a data card
