They spend their time talking to people and get paid for that!! They are the call center workers. You must have heard that there are many companies who outsource their customer support calls to overseas workers in order to make it cost effective. I looked up for both the companies (Arise and Alpine Access), but both are Non-Indian. Is there any Indian substitute in this field (providing a call centre job from home).

I also read about something very similar in the book “The world is flat” by Thomas F Friedman, where he told that such services were also being used by the airline companies to book the tickets over telephone.
