Canon PowerShot A550 Camera Review
This great model from Canon is a new compact point-and-shoot camera which performs fast and produces excellent picture quality. Its only minus is that is that its LCD is small and price is on the higher side. Nonetheless t is a great buy for anyone inclined to photography.
The common complaint about this model is that it is a bit slow. Especially if you are a nature photographer or plan to photograph the babies this camera will not be too helpful. However if you do not have these plans and use it for normal day-to-day photography this is great model to buy.
Apart from the shutter lag in camera the7 .1-megapixel A550 performs excellently as the burst modes here are superb. The price, which is around $200, is rather a hit high for this kind of basic camera. One of the good features that this model has is a glass viewfinder, which can be very helpful in bright light. Though this addition makes the LCD screen, around 2 inches and rather small as compared to most compact cameras on the market yet adding this camera is worth it.
The model does not have a sleek look yet it gives a nice grip and is a great model to hold in hand as far as looks are concerned. The model has a variety of physical controls that let you adjust the image settings.
The a 4X optical zoom lens, slightly longer than the 3X zoom on most digital cameras gives you the capability to increase zooming effect considerably The lens has a 5.8mm-to-23.2mm range (which is equivalent to a 35mm lens with a 35mm-140mm zoom) and corresponding maximum f-stops of f/2.6 to f/5.5. As far as shooting video is concerned the camera does a decent job. While video shooting the files are saved as Motion JPEGs and AVI formats. The video colour is vivid and the quality nice and sharp for VGA movies. In act colour is the plus point of this camera and in both daylight as well as night shot we see pictures with vivid colours. To sum up it is a great digital camera and a good choice to buy as it gives great picture quality.
I have a canon A550 Power shot camera, with waranty upto January 2010. because of battery leakage it became damage and given for repair at Cochin Office (canonscan centre) they told it required to change battery contact, lenze, inside boards and cleaning and repair charge of Rs.3754/-i sent it on 4-6-2009 to cochin office to repair and after 2 moths 25-8-09 i received it by giving a dd of amount 3754/- from claicut Gloria Canon office. but while checking the zoom switch not working, first complaint told repeated (memory locked error) Disp. switch jam (becuase of cover fitting problem). again i contacted them and send it back to cochin office, then after service i received on 12-10-2009 and seen the back cover broken through speaker and side of cover ( speaker damage is due to some projection from inside and side problem due to rest screw forcely screwed onwrong thread. again i contacted you office and they telling that is due to battery leakage the cover broken. not from careless of engineer side. we can surely say that this is due to their carless, if battery leakaged, the plastic cover melt, I know only metal parts and board will distroy never plasgtic parts and they didt repair it and send it back to me without repair on 2-11-2009 and i collected it on 3-11-2009 from claicut office. I want ot know becuase of their careless, i happend so, where i can complaint it. please send me email addresses to complaint this.
