The new ads format can give you a better CTR but again the “Ads by Google” has a different background colour which makes your websites visitors know about the adverts source, or may be this is another stunt by google to make it more brandable and make visitors know more about adsense publishers side ;)

    From Inside Adsense – So how do these referrals work? Just visit the AdSense Setup tab in your AdSense account and click the link for Referrals. Select the Google Apps option and then choose how you want the referral ad to look on your site.     ]]>     Ryan Hayward – AdSense Product Marketing announced recently that google is now offering video units where in you can make extra revenue by placing adverts on your website. you can place the ads by placing video’s on your website and revenue starts instantly. Google offers you with relevant ads on your web site just above the you tube video’s placed on your websites but again i personally feel this is a google’s trick to maximise usage of youtube video’s on all over the internet’s websites. Though they currently offer publishers with extra revenue but this revenue originally comes from the advertisers, and this shows how google intelligently starts another product which gives them the most benefit.

    Video units will be live in AdSense accounts later today (10/9). Currently this feature is open only to publishers located in the United States with English-language websites.

    ]]>     Google has just extended its Adsense network and added Adsense for mobile, which can help publishers to expand to new online content platform.

    What is Adsense ?

    Adsense allows website to allocate space for Google, which provides relevant text ads and then splits the revenue those adverts generate with the mobile site owner and Google. The share revenue details are not currently available outside the trial. Mobile Adsense is similar to the desktop part, but various new rules of account for mobile restriction on layout and content.

    How does it work?

    Adsense MobileThe website using the ads, must be written in proper mobile markup languages (WML – WAP 1.0, xHTML – WAP 2.0, cHTML – iMode) and with server side scripting like php and asp. How does the product behave? If you have an existing website optimized for mobile browsers or are creating one, you have a option to monetize with Adsense and a growing number of mobile advertisers.

    The system reviews the Adsense for Mobile Ad Samplecontent on the site and delivers relevant text ads, the publisher earns each time a visitor clicks the ad. You can get your mobile Adsense codes under the Adsense setup tab, i.e. click on Adsense for mobile. You can customize your mobile Adsense unit, using the instructions. AdSense for Mobile is available in the U.S., England, France, Italy, Germany, Spain, Ireland, Russia, The Netherlands, Australia, India, China and Japan.

    This service provides same as the desktop counterpart seems a logical step, but the fact the Google thinks its worth & shows that there are significant number of sites which provide content for mobile users.

    ]]>     Google adsense had a Site maintenance on this Saturday but still after this maintainence google adsense has some problem at their side where in the channel details are not shown in many adsense publisher accounts.
    I got IM’s from 4 publishers yesterday enquiring about this problem and if i was also having similar problem, and when i checked my account i found just 1 channel being shown in my adsense account. Lets wait to see a official update from google adsense team on this bug and wait and see when it gets sorted.
    Also get ready for the Halloween costume on your adsense ads which come out every year during christmas festival time.

    ]]>     Two days back i reported with google and posted here that google adsense channel data was not reporting all the stats, which also included the payment payment section as well (reported by jimkarter) and now here is he update from the adsense team that the stats are back to normal and reporting.

    Over the past few days, some publishers let us know that they were unable to view any data for their custom channels. Our engineers have now resolved the issue, and they’re currently working on including the missing data from the past few days. Your custom channels should now be tracking data as normal. Please be assured that your aggregate reports, which are used to calculate payments, have not been affected.

    ]]>     From all the pay per click adverts adsense is the only company which is has a greater membership in terms of publisers and advertisers, but there are many publishers who keep posting on the webmaster forums saying “Adsense Sucks”, “Adsense Banned me” etc etc and they never take a minute to check out their own website content.

    Adsense Adult Websites AdsAdsense team has already given a list of conditions which says that the sites displaying google adsense may not include :

    * Violent content, racial intolerance, or advocacy against any individual, group, or organization
    * Pornography, adult, or mature content
    * Hacking/cracking content
    * Illicit drugs and drug paraphernalia
    * Excessive profanity
    * Gambling or casino-related content
    * Content regarding programs which compensate users for clicking on ads or offers, performing searches, surfing websites, or reading emails
    * Excessive, repetitive, or irrelevant keywords in the content or code of web pages
    * Deceptive or manipulative content or construction to improve your site’s search engine ranking, e.g., your site’s PageRank
    * Sales or promotion of weapons or ammunition (e.g., firearms, fighting knives, stun guns)
    * Sales or promotion of beer or hard alcohol
    * Sales or promotion of tobacco or tobacco-related products
    * Sales or promotion of prescription drugs
    * Sales or promotion of products that are replicas or imitations of designer goods
    * Sales or distribution of term papers or student essays
    * Any other content that is illegal, promotes illegal activity, or infringes on the legal rights of others

    There are many publishers who ask their friends on instant messengers , login pages , emails to click on their ads to make some quick bucks but these clicks are complete loss for the advertisers who pay money to google for getting quality relevant converting traffic.

    Publishers running adsense on their websites are not allowed to click on their own ads and do the following :

    * May not encourage users to click the Google ads by using phrases such as “click the ads,” “support us,” “visit these links,” or other similar language
    * May not direct user attention to the ads via arrows or other graphical gimmicks
    * May not place misleading images alongside individual ads
    * May not promote sites displaying ads through unsolicited mass emails or unwanted advertisements on third-party websites
    * May not compensate users for viewing ads or performing searches, or promise compensation to a third party for such behavior
    * May not place misleading labels above Google ad units – for instance, ads may be labeled “Sponsored Links” but not “Favorite Sites”

    ]]>     There are many adwords advertisers who advertise their MFA[Made For Adsense] sites and try to make money normally called as arbitrage. There is a option in your Adsense accout which is called as the “Competitive Ad Filter” where in you can add all these bad sites or low paying advertisers and your website’s competitors. I have found a good list of advertisers who should be blocked in order to increase your eCPM and your overall total income.

    There are many a times you would check your adsense account and find you have recieved 0.01$-0.03$/click and everyone would be interested in recieving 0.50$/click on an average, for which you either need to work on your adsense ads placement or else block these adverts which pay very low.

    Google Adsense Competitive Ad Filter

    The Competitive Ad Filter enables you to block specific ads, such as competitors’ ads, from appearing on your pages. Entering a more general URL will block a wider range of ads; entering a more specific URL will block a smaller range of ads. For example, by entering a top level domain such as “example.com”, you’ll also block all ads that link to any sub-directories of that domain, like “forums.example.com”. Review the examples below to learn how you can create filters that will block only the range of ads you want.

    Here are some advertisers which should be probably blocked using the “Competitive Ad Filter” option because many of these are just parked pages/MFA sites.

    ]]>     Google adsense has now added another feature in the ads where in your can find 2 arrows which help the users to scroll for more ads in the same section. Last change in adsense was removing option to click on any area in the ads and rather counting clicks when they were made on the title and URL only in order to avoid accidental clicks.

    This new feature offers the users to click on the 2 arrows which are found below the ads and let them view more ads in rotation with a total of 5 sets of these ads being displayed after which the arrow is disabled. The only problem seen in this ad feature is that only 1 set of ads are coming relevant ones and all the others are non-related ads which the users may not click in anyway.

    Lets see the overall results after waiting for couple days and comparing the results with the clicks and CTR in adsense account
