How to Change Default Search Engine in Internet Explorer

Internet Explorer 9 has brought in very high number of changes to the Search Engine which is the reason most of the options are quite confusing to the users. In this article we will show you how you can change the default Bing search engine with any other SE of your choice like Yahoo! or Google. This article is similar to Change Search Engine in Apple iPhone Safari Browser.

To get started you will have to start the IE9 browser and type something in the address bar to display the drop down list of options which would range from displaying previously visited websites to searching for the specific typed keyword.

Internet Explorer Address Bar

The browser will redirect to a completely new webpage on a new tab at http://www.ieaddons.com/in/searchproviders which displays a list of different Search Engines available. Search for the add-on which you would like to use on your browser and then select the option of ‘Add to Internet Explorer’.

Google Search Suggestions

You will get a popup window with the message of ‘Add Search Provider’ and asking you to either Replace or Add the new search provider. If you are looking to make sure that this new SE should be the default service, then click on the check box which says ‘Make this my default search provider’ and then click on the ‘Replace’ Button.

Add Search Provider

Now the browser would not use the default Aol search nor the Bing search but would allow you to search through the selection you had specifically made.
