Gmail is now offering upto 30 different themes which are real good and very quick loading because their images are highly optimized to make sure the mails load quickly and you dont feel any delay. Yahoo mail beta on the other hand takes good amount of time for loading because of the ads and high graphics.

The new gmail homepage features the news of the 30 themes available in your settings page. Previously i used gmail redesigned feature using Stylish Add-On in firefox but this was just limited to firefox browser and we could not see the new design in other browsers, but now with the inbuilt themes option in gmail its a universal feature available for any browser. Here is a sample of the gmail themes which you can select from.

Gmail should give us the power to create our own themes. A framework to do so will change users perspective to checking mails.

Currently they are limiting to a very small number of themes and if you are a designer you can contact them because gmail does accept freelancer’s themes!

The Tab is only available to GMail users who regularly use the Web Interface actively, as opposed to using GMail from a remote application, such as Apple Mail or MS Outlook or whatnot.

It has nothing to do with when the accnt was registered, but simply the activity of the accnt. I can`t however offer the precise number over which would qualify (deemed by Google) as an active user.

Happy New Year of the Ox to all GMailers.

Gmail Themes aren’t yet compatible with all of our supported browsers. Themes are only available in Internet Explorer 7.0+, Firefox 2.0+ or Safari 3.0+, and Google Chrome. You won’t see a ‘Themes’ tab in your Settings if you’re not using the newer version of Gmail on the browsers listed above. Please note that Themes are not available if you’re using Internet Explorer 6.0
