MSN is a free instant messaging client by Microsoft Corporation. Windows Live Messenger or Hotmail messenger both means the same. MSN and Hotmail uses the .NET Passport service for the authentication of logins. A best advice for the people who uses MSN Messenger is that you should monthly change your password and memorizing it will help you to remember password from time to time. Don’t be addicted to browser capability of Remembering the passwords.
It’s sometimes hard to remember the password because today almost for all website we need the combination of numbers and alphabets for the passwords, of-late I came across few sites recently asking me to provide atleast one letter in lower or upper case. Many messengers and chat clients ask for a minimum of 8 characters password and should use the combination of both alphabets and number, anyone of those two is not accepted since you need combination of both.
You often change your password because of two valid reason
- 1. You forgot your password
- 2. Some has hacked your password
- 3. If you want to update your password
Whatever maybe the reason you can easily access your Windows MSN Messenger.
If you want to change the password for MSN Messenger then you need to change the password for whole the settings and services associated with the Windows Live ID or Hotmail ID which you have. The instructions to change the Windows Live or Hotmail ID are easy. Please note that if you change your Windows Live password then it will affect the password for all the products associated with that ID at Windows Live.
Updating MSN Messenger Password
To update your password with the existing to a new one
1. Sign in to your Windows Live Messenger and open your email account (seen on the upper left corner of your screen).
2. From there again in the drop down select ‘Options‘.
4. Under ‘Manage your account‘ section select ‘View and edit your personal details‘.
5. It will now display the personal information and your work is to navigate to ‘Password reset information‘. Click on ‘Change‘ written next to your existing password.
6. Another window will pop-up asking you to enter your current password and then type in your new password, retype new password for confirmation.
7. Click on Save to save your settings.
Also if you don’t login into MSN Messenger for more than 2 months the password will expire and you need to reset your password again. This is some what looks like headache in MSN Messenger.
