Vishesh Mardolkar Asked a Question : I have purchased a new nokia 5310 nokia express music phone. Pretty good on music. My problem is this phone does not support .sis file as it is built on a symbian 40 (S40) platform, hence i am unable to use any antivirus application on my phone. Also most applications available on the air is built for s60 platform. How, where can i convert/download applications for my phone.
First of all you did the right choice buying a nokia mobile phone because i personally like them as they are very much compatible and every application associated with them are easily available on the internet. After using a Nokia N95, then Nokia 6300 & now Nokia 5100 iam planning for a Sony XPeria because of the advanced browsing features.
The first point which i would like to refer is that the Symbian S40 based mobile phones dont have any virus yet, hence there is no antivirus software ever released for these mobile phones because these are just simple phones and the maximum virus problem can be through bluetooth which should be avoided and activated only in safe zone. I did a search in most mobile phone related websites and didnt find the antivirus software for Symbian S40 based mobile phones.
You can always use the software CD provided with the handset to upload/download other games, applications etc but till date there are no Antivirus softwares launched for any Series 40 mobile phones.

smart people are always smart , stupid are always stupid. nokia is the dominating company and we are all stupid.all other companies are nokia’s branches. this is nota metaphor but a reality. why we should run after its propaganda. the cheapest telephone is better than even n96. we are playing with nokia rat and cat.i sold my n95 which does not even support sis files and took 3310 and a call is enough. a mobile is to call and that’s all.salaam brothers

yu are not a guy who knows the technology. you should know what yu are buing and what is your daily need. yu choose symbain technology phone even the cheap ones …loike nokia 5230 . will get everything.
today world has gone very far ahead. my self i use mobile not just for call , but i use it for navigation plaaning , and internet calls which are very nice option ,, for international call .
yu must know and select proper thing before getting one costly and unusual for yu from the world of nokia.

Hey…friends…let make it clear..S40 phones are not that much advanced as s60 phones.S40 viruses are virtually unheard of.
So..s40 phones don’t need an anti virus.. To all out there s60 applications which are is sis format are written in C++..
Jar applications are in JAVA…. So its foolishness to ask for a converter.There is lots of great java applications and games available for s40 to satisfy even an enthusiast.

Hi guys.. There’s something wrong with my mobile phone.. I lost all of my data (mp3, video, etc) in one folder. It happened twice, the first one, i rename the folder and whoop! The data was back, but it has been corrupted, so its useless. And when i deleted it, there’s notification said that the folder could not be erased. Is it some kind of virus?
