Simplicity is something which is liked by many but there are a few people who love to have heavy designs and graphics everywhere. This is applicable to everyone and when it comes to your Desktop, then most people would opt for the basic themes for quick loading and higher performance of the computer. But this is not possible when your computer is used by multiple users because everyone would be changing the current theme to the one of their choice and annoy you, hence the best way to stop this is by disabling the option of changing themes.

Normally if you would like to make a change to the Windows Wallpapers or the Themes, then you will have to right-click on the Desktop and click on the ‘Personalize’ link at the end. Next under the ‘Change the Visual and sounds on your Computer’ you will find a list of different themes which are available on your Windows computer. Just click on any of these and it’s implemented.

To disable this click on the ‘Windows + R’ combination keys to start the Run Box. Here in type ‘regedit’ and press Enter. This will open the Windows Registry Editor.

Next you will have to click on the Computer > HKEY_CURRENT_USER > SOFTWARE > Microsoft > Windows > CurrentVersion > Policies > Explorer. Here in you will have to create a new DWord (32 bit) Entry. Give it a Name of ‘NoThemesTab’.

Next you will have to double-click on this Entry and change the value data from 0 to 1.

Thats it, all the settings are saved now and once you logout from the current user account and relogin back, the themes section & desktop background section would be turned to Gray color with no option to edit them. In the future if you want to change the settings again they will have to visit the Registry Editor again and change the value of the NoThemesTab key from the current 1 to 0.
