The news is that Google has tested a ‘CAR’ that can drive by itself. For the testing of the self driven car it did traveled successfully few miles around the Google Headquarters in California. These automated cars use video camera, radar sensors & laser range finder to drive across using the traffic details, signals, land markers etc.
The cars are never unmanned, they have a trained safety driver behind the wheel and also trained software operator in the passenger seat to monitor the software to take over the control if anything goes wrong.
Google says that this is experiment and well could be the future of how the car’s are driven. Google hopes that it can reduce the 1.2 million count of lost people every year by road traffic accidents by significantly reducing car usage and making the process autonomous.
