Indian Post has 1,55,000 offices in India which covers villages, major towns and districts. Indian Post have introduced a new service ‘ePost’ under which the printed or even handwritten messages of the persons are scanned and transmitted as email through internet and at destination office these message is print, enveloped and delivered through postmen to the respective postal address. At present only text messages can be sent through this medium.
Besides setting up of ePost in post offices all over India, a person who has computer and internet connection can avail the facility and can make the payment through debit card or credit card. ePosts costs Rs 10 per page of A4 size paper and there is no limit on how many pages can be sent through a ePost.
The following are the services covered by the ePost Offices –
- Electronic Money Order
- Instant Money Order
- Philately Stamps
- Track & Trace ePost
ePost by Indian Post will bring digital development and makes people understand the power of internet technology. Each ePost center is equipped with a dedicated internet connection, computers, printers with scanner and other necessary equipments.
ePost will make businessmen and professionals to advertise their products and services to selected customers. They can send their publicity material agreement papers and other papers through ePost. ePost messages can be delivered anywhere in the world but there would be no hardcopy sent but just the e message would be sent to the receiver but I think it’s better to go with free email services rather than paying Rs 10 per page for ePost.
