Ghostbusters Game Review

September 26, 2008 by Amit Bhawani

Inspired by the movie Ghostbusters, which was made upon the writings of Harold Ramis and Dan Aykroyd, the game revolves around guys chasing the ghosts in the city. It seems more realistic when played on PS3, PC or Xbox 360 environment, but the same game seems more like a cartoon type on PS2, Wii and maybe DS also. The multiprocessing model of the PlayStation 3 makes it an ultimate platform to play any kind of game for the gamers.

The different version of the game will have subsequent differences; however the recent one is similar to the other versions with the exception of multiplayer mode being added to this. In this mode the game play will be free for all as to say that one does not have to be stuck with anyone character. They could also select a playable ghost during the game instead of the busters.

The plot is quite similar to that of the story by Ramis and Aykroyd and the developers have taken the pain of introducing the voices of the original actors throughout so as to make it more realistic. However, actors like Sigourney Weaver and Rick Moranis declined to aid their voices for the game on basis of different grounds.

In the game a player could be either a male or female rookie in fighting the ghosts and the plot starts from the day of Thanksgiving 1991, that is two years from the time where Ghostbusters 2 had let go. The idea is of having the new players as the fresh member to the side of the Ghostbusters for testing their newly developed instrument. All the ghosts that come along the game are the ones that have already featured in the original film. The recent news is of the game being delayed till 2009 for the Activision merger.
