Once you start installing a application in your Apple MacBook, you would get confused because the file you get is in the format of .DMG which comes as a single file[Disk Image File]. In Mac its seriously very easy and simple to install any new software application. In order to make you understand how this thing works i will show you installing Google Chrome for Mac on my Apple MacBook for which first you need to download it from the official Google Chrome website.
In order to get started you need to double click on the .dmg file you have downloaded, which will extract all the files within the setup file. Once the whole content is extracted you will find a new file which now has to be moved to the Applications Folder which is listed in your Macintosh HD.
Next in order to get started, you need to Drag the Application icon from the folder to the Dock which can help you in easily accessing the App easily. Next you need to right click on the new application under your dock a select the option ‘Keep in Dock’ to make sure its always listed in that section. This means that even when you close the application, the shortcut just created previously would be listed there.
Next the file which was originally downloaded to your desktop can be deleted because the extracted main files are already saved in your Applications Folder, hence keeping this one would be just using extra Disk Space which is of no use. You need to Eject it by right clicking on it and select the ‘Eject’ option. Also you can just select the file and press Command-E button on your keyboard and then delete it. If no just moving the file to the Trash Can would do all the job from Ejecting to Deleting it.
There is another way of installing Applications in Mac, where in you get a installation package which you need to Double-click on and the installer would be moving you towards a easy to follow process.
