There are literally around 1000+ web directories running on phplinkdirectory and iam being consulted by many people who are confused how to install this script on their domains.
So instead of teaching each and everyone (though i have taught it to many people), iam posting a complete tutorial here on how to install this awesome directory script.
Step 1 : Get the Free (or) Paid Version of phplink directory and upload it to your server.
- Note:
This Demo is for phpld2.2 - a free version of this directory script.
unzip the download file you recieve and upload it in your server which will look like this after uploading.
Step 2 : Now using your ftp program like Cute ftp , smart ftp or coreftp change the permissions of the following files and folder to 777 which is writing permissions.
- include/config.php
- temp/
- temp/adodb
- temp/cache
- temp/templates
Step 3 : After you have given the required permissions try to access to your maindirectorydomain.com where the script installer will automatically run and start the installation options.
Meanwhile go to your website’s Cpanel and select the Mysql option to create new database and user.
>>>
Once creating Database and user is done , add the new user to the database.
Step 4 : Go back to your phplink directory installation page and click on Next in the page :1 , and in the second page of installation a list of requirements is listed regarding the permissions and if its perfect, click on Next and move to step 3 of installation where you will be asked to enter the database details, which you need to fill with the database you created in Step 3.
Step 5 : Once step 4 is completed you will given a page to enter the directory login details and email details which once done you will complete the installation of phplinkdirectory script.
Step 6 : Last step and important step is to delete the Install folder from your ftp and change permissions of your config file to 444 which can be found in /include/config.php
Hope the whole phpld Installation Tutorial was clear and in case you have any query you can ask me here or in the Directory Forums
Do let me know if you install a web directory using the above tutorial and in case if you need Deep links mod installation too let me know so i can refer you to the right person.
