Change Mobile Operator with Mobile Number Portability (MNP)

If you are not happy with your current Mobile Phone operator because of Billing Issues, Signal Problems, Call Drops or any other issues you don’t have to worry now because the TRAI [Telecom Regulatory Authority of India] has now offered a new scheme under which you can switch your operator at a cost of just 19Rs which would be applicable from December 31st in India. This service would allow the mobile subscribers to retain their current mobile number and change the service provider if they are not satisfied from the current services.

Mobile Number Portability

Iam sure BSNL would loose the most customers in this change since many people had opted for this service in the beginning but after a lot of complaints, subscribers are looking to retain their old numbers but switch the providers. Another reason is that these days the customers are looking for VAS [Value Added Services] like Caller Tunes, Dialer Tuner, Games, SMS etc which is not the main interest of BSNL. Along with this the 11 Digit Mobile Numbers would also be implemented because of the increasing count of mobile phone owners and limited numbers to be offered.

While the implementation of this service would not take more than 2 hours, where in your service provider would be changed and following this the new operator would within 5 days send you a written request for verification according the guidelines. After this the documents are sent to the old operator for confirmation and seeking clearance after which the whole trasaction is completed.

There are chances that atleast 5% of the total subscribers would jump to the new networks like Docomo, Vodafone which have better offers, prices and packages for the customers when compared to the oldest companies. Do you plan to change your service provider? If yes whats your current one which one would you opt for?

    Hello All,

Hey this seems to be awesome… but i want to know that are there any restrictions on switching the Operators… as well as will any fee be charged every time one switches from one services provider to another and if yes then will it be charged by both providers or only one. Which places are to be covered first with MNP.
