Finally the most awaited international airport at hyderabad has been given a green signal and is going to be opened on 23rd march 2008 at Shamshabad, hyderabad. With the airport recieving clearances from consent for establishment, consent for operations/ environment, aerodrome licence the airport is ready for handling huge number of passengers.
There were a lot of problems since last week because many private airlines were not interested in moving to the new airport from the current begumpet airport but finally the officials from Ministry of Civil aviation have announced that the existing airport at Begumpet would be closed completely for civil aviation operations. The first flight from this new airport would be lufthansa’s Frankfurt-hyderabad flight on saturday.
Here are the ways to reach the new Rajiv Gandhi International Airport:
Four Lane Inner Ring Road
Four Lane Srisailam State Highway [East]
Four Lane National Highway NH-7 [West]
Four Lane Road P7 to decongest Srisailam Highway
Proposed Eight Lane Outer Ring Road
Four Lane PV Narsimha Rao Expressway
This means world-class facilities and infrastructure for passengers including -
- Airport shuttle service to and from main points in the city
- Easy transit within terminal buildings
- Check in counters and self check in kiosks
- Shopping and dining outlets
Transport Modes:
There are several modes to enter the airport from both the cities ie Hyderabad and Secunderabad via Begumpet, Hitec City, Jubilee Hills, Nampally, TV Tover, RTC X Roads & Charminar
Airport Map Route:
Here is the Complete Roadway map which indicates the complete routes to this new airport at hyderabad easily.

April 5th, 2008 at 6:46 am
I am coming by Emirates on 2nd May early hours i.e. arrival is at 2.50 am. At what time does the shuttle start from the airport and reach keys High School. Can I get down in Tarnaka. Can u please give me the details of the timings.
April 5th, 2008 at 3:32 pm
Srikanth:
For every 30 min you have shuttle both the directions ie.,from air port or from Keys high school. So you need not worry. if you miss one you can next in 30 minutes. The shuttle will not stop in between once it starts from Airport, it is non stop shuttle to key’s high school. They will charge you Rs 95 per head. So be ready with Rs 95.

Hi
ARE THERE ANY ‘REQUEST’ STOPS MIDWAY FOR GMR’S AEROEXPRESS?
(Both for getting into & getting down the shuttle)
I could gather from various sites about the different routes in which GMR’s Aeroexpress Shuttle is in service and I noticed that one of the routes (Air port - Keys high school) is going through LBNagar-Nagole-Uppal-Tarnaka.
I would like to know if these shuttles any stops (on request at least) in these areas.
This information is important for me because I stay in Nagole (I think midway) and in order to catch a flight in the early morning, I am NOT sure which is the best option for me:
)
#1) Go to Sec’bad (Keys High School) and catch this GMR schettle
<>
#2) Go by Taxi directly to Airport (To be frank — Least prefered in terms of Cost
Can anyone please provide this information on or before 9th April 08.
Thanking you in advance
Regards
April 7th, 2008 at 12:36 pm
Continuing the above query
…. I forgot to specify the 3rd option ..;)
#3) STAND in the route of the one of the GMR Schettules and WAIT for the bus and BOARD the bus (if it stops - ofcourse!)
Thanks

Thanks Amit for the reply
I just checked in some other site which clearly mentioned….
“The shuttle bus service provides point to point connectivity with NO STOPS”
Anyway I got a number to call for details +91-40-66764000 (Hope this works tomorrow
)
I tried but could not reach anybody may be due to holiday
But please let me know if you have any more details on this shettule and MOST IMPORTANTLY if it stops anywhere near Nagole.
Thanks
Ravi

I called the hyderabad airport officials and they confirmed that the shuttle bus would not stop at any location between the main points since these are point to point buses and hence you need to go to keyes high school secundrabad in order to go to shamshabad or else try out with a local Auto since that would be cheaper in terms of cost and time savings.
We can also expect APSRTC to start A/c Metro buses soon for shamshabad and if you read the newspaper recently there was a update that CM is planning to start the begumpet airport again for interstate flights and keep rajiv gandhi airport for international flights though the plans are not yet finalised and confirmed.
Do let me know if you have any other queries.

Amit:
I understand that there is 24 hrs bus service by GMR from Airport to Keys high school and vice versa. Is that Correct?. Is there any bus schedule?. How much time it will take shuttle to reach airport frokm Key’s High school?.
April 7th, 2008 at 2:27 pm
Dedicated Airport Shuttle Coaches
Fare: Rs. 95 ( inclusive of tax ) per trip
Four designated locations in the city
City Locations Shuttle Point Location
Secundrabad Adjacent to Keyes High School
Greenlands Ground floor, Paryatak Bhavan
Charminar Adjacent to Quli Qutub Shah Stadium, opposite City College
Mehdipatnam Adjacent to entrance of Sarojini Devi Hospital
Note : The above mentioned locations are respectively the Start and End points of coaches. Coaches will end and start at the Airport / City Locations without any en-route stops.
No idea about the timings but as far as i know its on hourly basis and i guess it takes around 2 hours for one way route based on the total distance of 40kms one way from Keyes high school to the Airport.
Kottapet to Shamshabad is 35 kms with 29kms to the main entrance and 6 kms inside track which is really a long route and once you are inside the airport there are some red buses available for your services to move in and out the airport and also 2 wheelers are not allowed to enter into the main inner airport entrance, make sure you know about this.

Hi,
Greetings from Finland.
I am heading to Hyderabad for the first time in my life and I have booked a flight to Shamshabad airport.
Unfortunately, I have a quite late arrival to the new airport and I am bit suspicious how to get to my hotel on the Tank Bund Road at that time. (Arrival at 23.15 local time on the 19th of April.)
Do you have any idea how much a taxi drive will cost? And is it easy to catch one at that time, because I am not so keen to take a bus to the centre of a city, where I haven’t visited before.
Thank you for your comments and answers in advance.
Yours &c.,

April 7th, 2008 at 5:07 pm
Jussi-Pekka Hakkarainen 23:15 is a very odd time and i guess the time you check out from the airport it would be the next day early morning and the best option at that time would be a taxi service which costs 15Rs/Km [40Rs=1$] and hopefully the bus services would also be available at that time and dont worry about them, they are volvo buses which are excellent and they are again point to point.
