Question : Hello Amit, Am a owner of a Franchise Business, with 43 franchisee showrooms all over the different cities in India. I have promoted the brand on the Internet but there are a few problems from the past 30days. My competitor is trying to create a bad reputation of my business model but posting few negative reports which are totally wrong and baseless, but since they are published on different websites on the Internet, am unable to get them removed. There is no cyber law information on how to complain about this online fraud and even if I go through that way, I feel that the competitor would increase these wrong tactics and try to defame me more. Please help me in removing these links from Google and the bad reputation spread all over. – Raj Pandey from New Delhi
Answer : Its a very hard job to create a brand and this is a long term process. While you may be working on building your reputation when you get success you will find a great but if there is something negative found about your brand name, then it would be a very hard time because removing these bad lines would be on your next to-do list. We had previously covered a article on How to Monitor your Online Reputation which can be useful for business who want to track down their brand mentions all over the Internet. You can always search for different keywords which are related and around the business name, but its better to subscribe to different alerting services which would instantly send you a email when there is a new mention around the web.
Not only business but kids who join Social Networking websites would also write down their personal stuff on these websites which can create privacy issues and also do harm to their personal life in the long run. This includes postings done on Myspace, Facebook etc with embarrassing photos and inappropriate messages posted which cannot be directly removed by their parents but can be handled by a professional company like ReputationDefender which can help you in removing bad traces and notes from different websites.
These kind of services are useful in :
Removing your Personal Information from Google & different Websites
Online Reputation Management Tool
Protecting your Reputation against Competitors
Internet safety & civility
Another reason why these tools are good is that, job employees these days have heavily started interacting with the outside worlds through websites like Twitter, Facebook and started publishing their companies inside stuff along with bad critics which can be harmful to them when they plan to change their jobs because these days the employers, do a deep research on every person before hiring them and anything published previously on the Internet, can harm their future jobs. There are few other ways to remove the information which you have already published or which others have written about you.
You can also try to login to all the websites where the information is published and try to cancel those services totally which would remove most of the information. Also you can email the website owners to remove the negative content with reasons for the same and also a apology on the issue so that the issue is handled in the perfect way saving your brand reputation. 100 Positive Reputation points can bring in good amount of business, but 1 negative feedback can make you lose lot more about of business, so stop thinking more and start working on fixing the bad complaints around your business.
