How to Secure Online Transactions with VBV & MSC

For the safety of all online shoppers, from 1st August 2009, The RBI has made it compulsory to add an extra level of authentication for all transactions made online. This extra level of authentication is Verified by Visa (VBV) or MasterCard SecureCode (MSC). By this, an online shopper needs to enter a password after entering credit / debit card details during online payments.

Getting the Password :
To get your extra level authentication password, follow the steps mentioned below:

  • Log on to your bank’s website.
  • Register your card for VBV or MSC.
  • Enter your password.

I have registered my credit/debit card. How do I continue shopping on any website?
You can continue transacting on any shopping site in 2 easy steps. After submitting your credit/debit card details when making an online payment on the shopping site, you will be redirected to your bank’s website. Here, you will need to enter your VBV or MSC password. After doing so, you will be redirected back to the main shopping site to complete your booking. It’s that simple.

    I have ICICI credit card, that is a regular one.. along with that I have received a online credit card for Net purpose. as these both have different card no… which one should I register…
