How to Show Static Page instead of Latest Posts in blog homepage

A Blog visitor asked me how to show up a static page instead of showing the latest posts in a wordpress based blog’s frontpage.

As per the blog defination , its a CMS which would show up the latest posts on the frontpage which would make the blog readers easily read all the information and get started. Blogs are something which are similar to a newspaper where in the most latest headlines can be viewed on the homepage part and the other content can be found in the inner sections. Generally in web blogs you can easily organize all the posts using categories and setup google sitemap & yahoo sitemap for making sure they are easily indexed in the search engines and you can rank in the top of the searches

Last time when i was offering free seo consultancy i was asked how to show different number of posts in the categories and different posts per page, but when we come back to this original question its a very easy option which can be used from our wordpress wp-admin/dashboard section.

Login to your wordpress admin section and click on Settings > Reading Option

Blog Frontpage Static page Settings

From the drop down option you can select the right page which you want to show on your blog’s frontpage and click on ‘Save Changes’ for completing this process.

Generally this option is used by people who run portfolio kind of websites or websites which seem to be static in nature but are dynamic in the background. Do let me know if you have any doubts in setting this up.
