Do you have a problem with BSNL broadband lately with very low connection speed and some websites not loading. Instead of continiously refreshing your browser for making sure the website loads try out this 2 minutes trick and see how all your websites start loading.
Click on your Network Connections icon and then Click on ‘Properties’ under the ‘Local Area Connection Status’.
Next Select ‘Internet Protocol(TCP/IP)’ and click on ‘Properties’
Finally change your DNS Settings to these : 208.67.222.222 208.67.220.220 which are a part of Open DNS which generally always work whenever BSNL DNS is giving problems.
Click on ‘ok’ and save and close all the properties windows and restart your modem/wireless router for a better internet speed and experiance. This OpenDNS trick generally works with most ISP, try out once.

Thank god i dont have bsnl\
LOL, i am sorry.. no offence bsnl users but i have really heard a lot of times that bsnl is not a good service provider.. i am safe, i use airtel..
dont think i am trying to promote airtel but seriously.. i think airtel broadband is better than bsnl
analysis230 says
BSNL, yes it is running slow than the said bandwidth but it is far better than any other broadband even touhg it is slower than it should be but it is faster than airtel and tata photon+.
I have the 2mbps plan
madhu says
dude but fact is that BSNL is too goo till the time its up n runing no other ISP can provive that service for that price but the fact is once it starts giving problems its worst then the worst ISP in the world
GauharJK says
I use Reliance broadband, and the same problem is bugging me… I cannot visit most websites, coz they just don’t resolve. But I can still download via torrents at very high speeds. And I suspect DNS is the problem.
Thanks for this tip. I’d love to try it out… 🙂
Helpin says
Yeah ! The same happened for me when I got this TATA wimax . Later an executive of Tata wimax changed the “DL CINR ” (They decreased it to +13 Db from +25 DB ) .It improved to some what better.

i am using the bsnl broadband unlimited plan. the company claims the speed up to 256kbps but i am geting just 20 to 30 kbps. I follow ur tips but still the speed is same as it was.
Is this trick is not workable for bsnl and if it is then guide me with some more tricks
Raghu Nadh says
@vivekanand bissa,
Dear Vivekanand
BSNL promises 256kbps and delivers 256kbps. It will translate into 28KBPS for you. because, 256kbps = 25.6KBPS
Krishnanunni says
Actually……..
256 kbps = 256/8 = 32 KBps
Balaji J H says
Yes good information Amitji
I have Bsnl Broadband 2MBPS line but the download speed is only
70kb-180kb only why is this
Arup says
It’s not 2MBPS, It’s 2mbps
2mbps=2million bit per second. It’s closer to 250KB/s
Normally bsnl 2mbps users get speed between 200 and 250. I get 207~235 KB/s
abhisek das says
heello vivekananda bissa,256 kbps means=256/8=32KBps
“b”=bit ,8 bits=1byte.u have to convert 256kb to KB,then it results 32 KBps.

Hi Amit,
Great Job. I had this issue and tried all possible help but all resulted in vain. Your trick worked very well and my BSNL Broadband UL 750+ is speeding like anything. But, the issue was continuing in mobile, which I use to access internet using WiFi. So I just went ahead and applied the same DNS setting in my WiFi router itself. Now all of us (myself, Laptop and my mobile) are happy. I had actually planned to go to BSNL office and thought of closing this connection.
Thanks a lot, thank you very much Amit.

Ur a life saver buddy…ur trick worked 4 me….thanx a ton mate…u deserve an applause…..hats of to u… 🙂

The trick worked a little but still there are problems like disconnection of the link periodically. What can be done for that.
akash sharma says
Microsoft reserves 20% of your available bandwidth for its own purposes (suspect for updates and interrogating your machine etc.)
Here’s how to get it back
Click Start / Run
Type: gpedit.msc
This opens the group policy editor. Then go to:
Local Computer Policy / Computer Configuration / Administrative Templates / Network / QOS Packet Scheduler / Limit Reservable Bandwidth
Double click on Limit Reservable bandwidth. It will say it is not configured, but the truth is under the ‘Explain‘ tab:
“By default, the Packet Scheduler limits the system to 20 percent of the bandwidth of a connection, but you can use this setting to override the default.”
So the trick is to ENABLE reservable bandwidth, then set it to ZERO. This will allow the system to reserve nothing, rather than the default 20%.
&&&&&&&&&&&& switch to open DNS

thank you! akash sharma!
but are you sure there will be no problem

Hi!
I am using the bsnl combo 600 night unlimited plan. It guarantees speeds upto 2 mbps. However I am only getting a speed upto 60 KBps, which suggests that my line speed is about 500 kbps. Speedtest.net confirms it. My friend uses the same plan and gets a download speed of 200-600 KBps at night. I am using the dlink dsl 2730u wireless modem. How do I improve my download speeds.
Your help would be highly appreciated.
