How to Stop Farmville updates & Turn off Notifications

It was amazing the very first time i came to know about the Farmville game by Zynga which is quite interesting and very much addictive but after playing it for a months period i found that there was no point just growing the same type of plans, harvesting and then also working with other friends under the name of co-op farming and doing the same stuff again every day. I did purchase a tractor, harvestor and seeder and even paid Zynga a few real dollars via Paypal to buy Farmville Cash but finally found that its hard to still work on the farms without having fuel, hence stop playing the game overall after having a few millions in coins. This is the same tutorial for all the similar games like Fishville, Mafia Wars etc.

Now once i have stopped playing this game, i feel it annoying when other players in my network who added me as friends send me gifts or request for gifts which show up on the Facebook website and also the emails inbox and there should be a quick option to stop this. The gamers are just increasing because its now available for the iPhone & iPad. The process listed below is quite similar to Enable & Disable Friend Requests in Facebook.

Now the question is how to stop these notifications which pop up multiple times in a day if you have opted for different similar game notifications. At the end of these emails there is a message from Zynga Games which says the following :

Click on the unsubscription link which will open a new web page asking you to confirm this – ‘Are you sure you want to unsubscribe from “New Gift Notifications (max 1 per day)”? Once you click on the unsubscribe button the daily notifications will stop and you can enjoy a better Inbox.

Now the second more important question would be on stopping the updates and alerts which are shown on the Homepage Newsfeed and can make you distracted. Also there is no limited on these notifications because they keep popping up by default whenever someone updates their status as shown below.

Next to these notifications when you mouse over you will find a small link saying ‘Hide’ which you need to click, following which a list of three options would be shown.You can either select ‘Hide Friend Name’ to just hide all that specific friends updates from your homepage or else click on the ‘Hide Farmville’ option to just hide the updates from these games. A final message will be showing saying – FishVille has been hidden from your News Feed. To manage who appears in News Feed, Edit Options.

The above options would make sure that all the notifications from these applications from this specific friend is stopped but not their general options. In order to completely block any notification which these specific games send you need to completely Block the application, the option for which is listed under the Requests section. Here below these requests you will find a option to ‘Block This Application | Ignore All Invites From This Friend’ which once selected would completely block everything.
