TATA Sky, one of the most popular Direct to Home (DTH) operator with over 6 Million customers has launched a new Active Games Service in association with the Gaming giant Hungama Game Studio. This service claims to give you a Play ground type experience right at your television screens. Initially, Hungama Game studio aims at providing more than 50 games on TATA Sky’s active platform. Recently, Reliance BIG TV too joined hands with another gaming giant india games for exclusive gaming content through its interactive services.
The games launched are there to cater the needs of every age group ranging from racing, cards, sports, action, adventure, arcade etc. TATA Sky also updated the catalogue for the same in the Active Games bouquet.
With more and more interactive services ranging from ACTIVE English, ACTIVE Cooking and also ACTIVE Games TATA Sky can only expect revenues from Tier 2 and Tier 3 towns as TIER 1 cities are most less likely to opt for such valu added services. Now over some period of time almost DTH operators like Dish TV, Reliance BIG TV, SUN DTH, Airtel digital tv and also Videocon’s d2h are seeing towards value added services apart from just offering basic Channel packages.
With technology disadvantage of older DTH players like for TATA Sky and Dish TV uses older MPEG-2 compression technologies, time will only tell about its offering and also its capability to provide more and more Channels and also value added services.
