Here is my review of TEDxHitechCity event which was organized on 31st Jan 2010. The event was scheduled to start at 09:00Am and end at 05:30Pm in the evening with a notification that everyone should be taking up their seat by 08:45Am. This is the very reason we started early in the morning to make sure we don’t get late for Registration and don’t miss the event opening. The bad part was that the hall was not even half filled by 09:00Am and the whole event was delayed by 20minutes which made me feel that this would be a fail event.

The first presentation was a Bharatnatyam by Smitha Madhav which was a excellent performance, followed by different presentations by Kannan Ramasubramania, Prof. D Balasubramanian, Sarath Guttikunda, Nagesh Kukunoor, Karuna Gopal etc
Overall am not impressed with the event and there are multiple reasons for this which you can read below.
Best Part of TEDx : A excellent location ie at one of the Premier Management College – Indian School of Business located as Gachibowli near Hitech City in Hyderabad. The campus is large, spacious, beautiful with professional team. Tasty North Indian Lunch was another reason we could survive this event and continue with it on the boring post-lunch sessions.
Bad Part of TEDx :
1. Event not started on time.
2. A breif Introduction of each speaker should have been given on the stage which would not have taken more than 1 min each.
3. The Projector Screen was completely useless because no one could clearly read the text on it.
4. Everyone was informed about Free Wi-Fi but there were not more than 4 Laptop Power Points for a 500+ audience which means it was hard for Laptop owners to keep their Laptops ON for a full day and take down the notes.
5. We mainly were at the event for the Demo of Andriod based Tablet PC by Sachin Ralhan and were dissapointed when we came to know that he is absent.
5. TEDx is a event known for sharing Ideas worth Spreading but frankly speaking i didnt find any really impressive speaker in the event who gave out a idea which was worth spreading. In the other TED events we have seen how someone gave a idea of making filthy water as good as drinking water with the use of low cost material and this is a idea which is worth spreading.
We were a total of 4 guys who flew down from New Delhi mainly for this event, but at the end didnt find any useful and interesting topics. There should have been a clear agenda posted with the timings of each speaker so that we could take a break on the off-topic sessions. These above listed points may make the organizers feel fad but i feel if taken care off would help them in making the next conference a better one.

Amit,
As one of the organisers, I take your feedback.
I am sorry you were disappointed.
Please understand this is not TED it is TEDx.
independently organised.
As for introductions, it is the TED format, and the reason we thought it would fly was because we gave the participants detailed write ups of the speakers.
Cancellation of Notion ink at the last min was a great disappointment for us too!
On the other points like screen, charging points & better screening for more innovative ideas we will keep it in mind
Thanks again for your feedback

It’s not easy to organize such an event. Its useful. But I feel that still qaulity of sessions need to be improved. We can have limited speakers allocate 1 Hour for each speaker, but every one should feel that its impressive.

Hima,
I guess you do not know anything about TED. Please be aware of the TED guidelines before commenting about it.

Aparna,
I guess you are not aware of TED. Have you been to TED U.S? Do you know how much it cost for entry?
At least TED Banglore? The quality is also will be same.
