Dont get surprised its not April Fools day and iam not kidding, its a real truth that a 600 pages wordpress based blog has been sold for a real surprising figure of 70 Crore [15 Millon Dollars]. Lets read more about this blog which should be given a Guiness World Record!

Check out the sitelinks/search results for the keyword CD Rates and you can find that the first result is from bankaholics followed by 8 sitelinks related to the same. Other highly searched keywords i found this website ranking was for Money Market Rates, Savings Account Rates & Bank Interest Rates. All these keywords helps out bankaholic get targetted sales/lead conversions.

The company will pay $12.4 million up front, with another $2.5 million possible earnout over the next 12 months.
Conclusion : Even if the new owners are able to make up 500k revenue from this blog without any costs then it would take them another 8 years to make up the same amount of money. May be the amount paid is not for the traffic it currently gets but for the domain name + search engine rankings + authority in the domain name + single word domain name which is easy for branding and also bankRate would not have to share any revenues with bankaholics.com if they own it. Another reason would be a high amount of Aweber subscribers who would have converted in the last 2 years resulting in a good base for promoting new financial products in the members list. Anyway this kind of sales are not seen every other day and we hope to see many more like these soon.
That’s really a big amount, gone waste by the buyer!
15 Million dollars? I would have gone lower than 0.5 million for this blog which has not much traffic, not much earnings and not good at SERPs.
Or was this a fake news by both buyer and seller to create a viral buzz?

Alexa sucks Guys. According to Quantcast, this blog gets over 150k visitors per month from U.S alone. According to Compete, there are over 295,000 people visiting Globally. The graph clearly shows the growth. Google Trends shows a similar growth in the trend.
Alexa is misleading completely.

Yes I also believe that Alexa is misleading. Alexa ranking is the notorious bluff in the cyber world! Sometimes you see alexa ranking of many sites, and you will burst out laughing. I have no faith in Alexa ranking.

Ooops, it is not the blog that worth $15 mil. I am sure there are thousands of better blogs than this one. The real thing in this purchase is the domain name, bankaholic.com. It is a fantastic domain, easy to brand and remember.
