Indira Gandhi National Open University Logo IGNOU is a national university established in the year 1985 it’s situated in India Delhi with a variety of its regional centers situated in different pars of Delhi. The university gained its name after the late Indira Gandhi who was the former Indian prime minister.

The university is centered to providing of uniform access in supporting and to center in high quality education, skill upgrading and training to all by using innovative technologies and methods and ensuring convergence of existing systems for massive human resource required for promoting integrated national development and global understanding.

Programmes offered
The university offers various programmes such as:
Masters of education, Masters of Arts, postgraduate diploma in higher education, postgraduate diploma in distance education, certificate in primary,
Doctors of philosophy- this programme is offered to people with the degree in M.phill (education). It is aimed at training education professionals in competence skills related to systematic organizing investigation into various disciplines and education problems.
Postgraduate diploma in higher education- this programme target those who are already in teaching fields or those wishing to join teaching. The course is of about one year duration.

Bachelor in education- this course is aimed at training and shaping practicing teachers to be effective teachers at secondary stage. The course also provide room for the already practicing teachers to share their experience with the upcoming teachers, more so it develops knowledge and understanding of vital areas needed by teachers. For one to join in this programme, he/she has to have bachelor or higher degree and about two year teaching experience.

Diploma in primary education- this programme target people who want to be primary teachers. It takes two years for one to be through. It develops knowledge and understanding of primary curriculum, individual differences, the set roles and commitment.
