The Joint Management Entrance Test (JMET) is a basic step which you’ll need to take if you are seeking a MBA program in IITs and IISC. It is to get into the 2-year MBA program offered by various IITs. They are IIT Madras, Bombay, Kanpur, Karagpur, Delhi and Roorkee.

The Joint management entrance test (JMET) is basically an aptitude test being conducted by each IIT every year in a rotation policy.
The JMET question paper includes the following topics.
- Basic engineering mathematics
- Data interpretation and sufficiency
- Logical reasoning
- Verbal reasoning
The question paper consists of totally 120 questions to be answered. Each correct answer will fetch you one mark each and 1/4th of a mark will be deducted for each wrong answer. You would be given 3 hours to finish the exam.
The Joint Management Entrance Test (JMET) is usually conducted by the month of December. The notification advertisements for applications will be published in the newspapers by the month of September and the last date for getting the application forms would be by the month of October.
All the questions are of objective type (multiple choices) and you are expected to shade the correct answer for each question with a HB pencil.
With a revised pattern, sectional cutoffs have been introduced which has been brought into effect since 2007. Candidates who clear all the sections will be given an all India rank (AIR).
Apart from the candidate’s performance in the exams, the academic achievement and extra curricular activities are also being considered for the admissions. The candidate will be called for group discussion and personal interview based on both those factors. Candidates possessing relevant work experience will be given special preference.
