University of Pune is one of the Universities in the world that is in the forefront in providing quality education that meets the challenges of the current world. The university has a Board of College and University Development which is an academic core unit of the university which was established as per the Maharashtra University Act of 1994. There are several challenges that Higher Education has to face in this era of globalization. With this trend of events, Indian Universities would not want to be left behind and they have to compete at international level. With this in mind it is important that the Board f College and University Development perform innovative programmes which will boost the standard of education and modify teachers and students to be more competitive in the global level. The following goals have been set by the Board of College and University Development to be achieved in a holistic manner.

The University will undertake revision of syllabi of all courses. This is done so as to get rid of uncompetitive courses in the market so that only those courses that are on high demand in the market are thought at the University. The University intends to make the courses internationally competitive with a bias in career search. To allow teachers at University and College level by creating chances to perform research and to give the funding that is needed so as to achieve this goal. To give the students a chance to undertake research projects by enforcing Avishkar. This is a research project competition scheme. The University also aims at bringing transparency and efficiency in the administrative aspects that concerns the colleges/institutes/teachers/students and principals.

Another goal which the university is trying to achieve is to establish liaison with nationally and internationally reputed educational establishments. To create a conducive environment for Indians and Foreign students. There are several foreign students who join the university so there is the need to see to it that these students get the best out of it so that more and more students can come to the university each year. The university also tries to promote distance learning and e-learning which is a necessity in the current world. In today’s world more universities and colleges are offering distance learning and this is the reason which prompted Pune University to emulate this new technology. If these gals are met, Pune University will be in the first hundred institutes in the world.
