For some patients who are suffering from lung cancer, chemotherapy can be a successful treatment for them. Chemotherapy is a type of treatment that uses such drugs which can stop the growth of cancer cells in the lungs. Either they kill the cancer cells or they stop them from multiplying. Doctors suggest this treatment to the patient because it also reduces the pain and other problems created by this disease. There are many methods of giving chemotherapy like sometimes it is given with some radiation or with some surgery or radiation otherwise all alone. The chemotherapy drugs are given through injection which is directly placed in to the vein or through a catheter, a thin tube that is positioned in to a large vein and stay there for as much time as it is required. Some chemotherapy drugs are also given in the form of a pill.

When lung cancer patient are treated with chemotherapy they are treated in an outpatient basis at the hospital, doctor’s clinic, doctor’s office or at home. However it really depends on the drug which is given to the patient, and on the general health of the sufferer. In fact the whole treatment of lung cancer depends on the type of cancer and its stage. Chemotherapy is the treatment which helps in curing lung cancer by shrinking the tumor or by halting it from spreading. Your concerned doctors may perform some sophisticated type of laboratory test to decide the combinations of chemotherapy drugs that are use for particular type of lung cancer.

The chemotherapy resistance test help in determining the possibility of a tumor’s resistance to particular chemotherapy drugs. During this test your tumor is removed and tested against a group of anti tumor drugs. If you tumor cells expand in the presence of intense exposure to a chemotherapy drug, this shows the presence important. Therefore if your cancer tumor is resistant to the chemo drug in this situation it will definitely be resistant to the drug in the body. This testing is usually used for the patients who have been treated with chemotherapy earlier and are looking for an extra treatment options.
