Chemotherapy Treatments
An effective treatment done for a certain type of cancers is called chemotherapy. Chemotherapy includes the use of anti cancer medicines to destroy the cancerous cells in the body. In fact this treatment can also be used for non cancerous patients where the dosage are minimize which further reduces the side effects associated with it. There are around 200 types of cancers have been suspected and there are more than 50 chemotherapy drugs which are used in many manners. There are different types of chemotherapy which depends on some facts that is type of cancer one is suffering from, the cause of cancers in one body, how the cancers cells look like under the microscope.
Chemotherapy also helps for the treatments like biological therapies, hormonal therapy, radiotherapy, etc. chemotherapy can be done in many ways depending upon the cancers type and accordingly the chemotherapy drug is given to the patient. Mostly the chemotherapy is done by injection which is inserted in to the vein for the purpose of giving drugs to the patients and this process is called intravenous chemotherapy. Drugs which are given in type of tablets or capsules is called oral chemotherapy. A drug which is injected in to the patient’s muscles is called intramuscular injection. When it is just injected just under the skin, it is called subcutaneous injection. These given drugs help to reach the cancer cells through blood.
In some cancers problems when chemotherapy drugs are injected and it gets through the fluid in the region of spine the type of chemotherapy treatment performed is intrathecal. When definite body cavities like pelvic body cavity gets inserted intracavity chemotherapy is done. These drugs are likely to stop over in a particular injected area with no concerns in other areas of the body. Chemotherapy creams are also available which are used for a particular type of skin cancer which affects that particular region of skin cancer. At times combination of chemotherapy is also used by the doctors for their patient depending upon the type of cancer they have and it really affects them too. Most of the patients get relief through this treatment.
