Hatha Yoga

Hatha Yoga is the preparatory stage of higher forms of Yoga. In this type of Yoga, the body is prepared and purified to take up higher practices. This type of Yoga was founded by Yogi Swatmarama. He has also compiled a text known as Hatha Yoga Pradipika. The two syllables in Hatha, namely Ha and Tha mean Sun and Moon respectively and they denote the energy channels. The Hatha Yoga follows the same principles of Raja Yoga and this is the form of Yoga that people all over the world associate with the word Yoga.

Hatha Yoga Training

Hatha Yoga has a set of principles. They mainly revolve around Asanas (The physical exercises), Pranayama (Breath control) and Meditation. However, Hatha Yoga that is practiced in Western countries is mainly of Asanas. The term Hatha represents opposing energies, namely hot and cold, positive and negative etc. There the Hatha Yoga balances the mind and the body. Hatha Yoga is one of the four main traditions of Tantra Yoga. The Asanas in Hatha Yoga have one main objective. That is, to practice meditation, there is a particular posture that needs to be taken and to feel comfortable in that posture, practice is required. It is only when the posture is mastered, one can delve in the subtleties and concentrated inwards. The other objective is to bring to the body energy and health.
