This is an event celebrated across the world. But the main ironical thing is that in different countries it is celebrated in a different way and on a different date of the Gregorian calendar. The International Chidrens day falls on 1st June but very few countries celebrate childrens day on this date. It is a day to honor the children and the minors.

Origin

The origin of the international children’s day can be traced back in 1920 in turkey, but still there is no strong evidence to prove the selection of this date as the International Children’s Day. One of the existing belief is that once in 1925 Chinese consul general in San Francisco organized a number of orphans to celebrated the Dragon Boat festival and the date is believed to be 1st of the June. The International Union for child welfare in Geneva sponsored the 1st time celebration of this day in world history on October 1955. The idea of celebrating Childrens day was adopted in 1954 by the United Nation General Assembly. It was then that in the proclamation by the United Nation General Assembly emphasis was laid to establish one day , for firstly for the mutual understanding between children and secondly to promote the children welfare. In other words it was the day to celebrate the Childhood.

November 20 is the anniversary when United Nation General Assembly took the decision to adopt the Declaration of the Rights of the child and hence this day is celebrated as Childrens Day according to them.

Celebration across the planet
In Argentina the celebration of the event takes place in the 2nd week of August. Until 1990 the celebration was taken place in the 1st week of August, but since most of the employees are not paid the 1st week, Childrens Day shifted to the 2nd week. The day is marked with speeches on the rights and welfare of children. In Australia the 1st Sunday of July is celebrated as the Childrens Day. In united states the celebration of the day precedes before the fathers or the mothers day. In India the day is celebrated on 14th November every year to mark the birth anniversary of the 1st prime minister of India, popularly known among kids as Chacha Nehru.
