Guwahati AirportGuwahati Airport is popularly known as Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport. It is located in Assam and is the gateway to the northeastern region of India. It is formerly known as Borjhar Airport also in Guahati, Assam, India. Though the airport is used as Indian Air Force Base, Airports Authority of India manages the airport. AAI has taken the step to bring a new look in the airport and it is expected that all these innovative work will be completed at the end of 2009. To bring a new look cosmetic and operational changes will be included in this plan or project. A runway for A380 is and terminal for Jet ways is also included. The modern airport will include air link corridors, aero bridges and escalators. Work is also on to improve the quality of the taxiways and widening the shoulders of the tarmac with a view to handle increased air traffic

Free baggage trolleys, wheelchairs, medical aid, lost and found baggage, assistance to physically challenge/ aged / infirm are available facilities including a restaurant, snack bar, gift and bookshops, telecommunications counter and tourist information offices of the Government of India and Government of Assam.

The flights of Guwahati airport are known as the Nine Perfect Jewels and this airport is the major hub for flights to Northeast India. Helicopter services are operated from Guwahati to Shillong (30 min), Tura (50 min), Naharlagun (Itanagar) (75 min) by Pawan Hans, a helicopter service.
