Engineering is a very technical field and an engineering resume has to have a lot of technical jargon in to reflect your knowledge of the engineering industry, which is why it would be advisable to use action words in your resume. An engineering resume should be able to reflect your technical expertise, in order to get the message across you will have to add a summary in your resume that speaks of your technical expertise.

An engineering resume unlike other resume has a very simple format. To be able to achieve the most powerful and effective resume you have to put yourself in the shoes of the human resources manager or the recruiter, and ask yourself what would I look for in a potential engineer.

It is important when the engineering resume to keep the resume short and simple, you have to maintain focus on the relevant information pertaining to the engineering field. You need to start off with a statement of what your goals are. You have to show your knowledge of the following examples like hardware, networking/protocols, web applications, technical certifications, and database applications highlighting any of this in your technical expertise summary will be an added advantage to you, the summary should effectively document your achievements but it should not be too long.

You engineering resume should have technical and computer skills as well as all your academic qualifications such as degrees and majors attained, the institutions from which the qualifications were attained from. It is also important to highlight some of the other skills such as computer skills listing the systems, programs, and languages plus the level of proficiency in those computer skills.

When writing the engineering resume you have to highlight the projects done and the extent of your involvement in those projects, if you have conducted any form of research in this field then you should also include this in the resume. Highlighting your accomplishments and achievements is important because it gives the potential employers are brief insight into what they can look forward to from employing you and what they stand to benefit from your employment at the firm, you also have to highlight how you contributed top the completion o the project, how your innovative ideas and performance resulted in the timely, and efficient completion of the work and how it made the work faster, and saved money. You shouldn’t focus on the small projects but instead focus on the big projects.

When writing the resume you have to plot it in a specific way, for example you should always list the projects or academic qualifications that you have attained in reverse chronological order this means that you list then starting from the most recent going backwards.

An engineering resume should be very specific so try to avoid putting any irrelevant information such as your interest and favorite hobbies and other things like this but instead you should only include your strengths and skills that can benefit the firm, leave out your weaknesse
