Nara is a Prefecture in the Kinki region on Honshu Island in Japan. The capital is the city of Nara. Nara Prefecture is located in the middle of the Kii Peninsula to the west of Honshu. Nara Prefecture is landlocked. It is bordered to the west by Wakayama and Osaka Prefectures, on the north by Kyoto prefecture and on the east by Mie Prefecture. The climate of Nara Prefecture is overall warm. . In the basin area the climate is generally characterized by the bigger temperature variance within the same day, and the notably big difference of summer and winter temperatures. These range between 35 and 3-5 respectively. The climate in the rest of the prefecture are mountainous, and especially in the south, with below ?5°C being the extreme minimum in winter. Heavy rainfall is observed in summer. It has the highest rainfall in Japan.
Manufacturing has the biggest share in the GPP of Nara. There is insignificant manufacturing activities but never the less there is production of traditional instruments used for Japanese art forms these include brush and ink known for calligraphy. Manufacturing tops the food industry especially in the farming of agricultural produce. These include rice, vegetables, spinach and tomatoes. Strawberry and tea are other products.
The manufacturing of these foods provides employment for food scientists, technicians who control the running of the actual processing and supervisors who assist the food scientists in maintaining the quality of products, before, during and after processing. Fishing specializing in goldfish is an aqua cultural produce in the prefecture. This contributes to the food industry. The service and real estate sectors are other employers that offer a wide variety of job opportunities.
Tourism is treated by the prefectural government as one of the most important industries of Nara, because of its natural beauty and historical significance. A number of temples and shrines also serve as tourist attractions. Guides and historians are the main job opportunities offered in this industry. Hotels and restaurants have benefited from the tourism industry. Employment opportunities that they present include maids responsible for house keeping, butlers, maintenance workers, cooks, waiters/waitresses, barman/lady, and receptionists.
Archeology is a practice in the prefecture evidenced by the archeological digs present in the area. This is because of the rich history of Nara. Archeologists are found in this field. Nara generally is economically dependant on Osaka. It is because of this that the prefecture lacks businesses and industry. The employment opportunities are thus limited in the prefecture.
