Occupying the north-eastern corner of the continent is a state, Queensland which is bordered by the Northern territory to the west. The Pacific Ocean is to the east of the state. Dominating the industrial part of the state are the agricultural, tourism, mining and natural resources sectors.

Because of the assortment and the relative number of industries available employment in Queensland is in abundance. Mining though local has attracted foreign and government investment increasing the diverse mineral ores mined in the state. Minerals include, copper, coal, zinc, bauxite and coal and silver. It is rated as a primary industry in the state. The job opportunities offered range from geologists, miners, environmentalist coordinators, and health workers that ensure the health of the miners and other workers that work underground. Also working in the industry are accountants, administrators, receptionists and human resources manages that run the mine.

Another primary industry is farming. Bananas, pineapples, peanuts, sugar cane, cotton, wineries and cattle raising are some of the farming activities that are indulged in. Each crop, fruit and vegetable has different requirements and attention for an increased yield and production of quality produce. Farmers and qualified workers in this department are required in monitoring the plants and animals during their growth to prevent damage and disease as a result of pests. In the processing plants for cotton and wineries, technicians are of utmost importance as they basically run the procedure.

Classified under secondary industries are those that provide further processing, for example, sugar cane to sugar and bauxite to alumina and copper refining. Like any other processing plant the office job opportunities in the industries, are almost the same.

The tourism and the retail industries are classified under the tertiary industry. Queensland is popular for its climatic conditions that are diverse attracting national and international tourists favoring a particular climate. Tourist destinations range from the various islands, amusement parks and wild life parks. Restaurants and shopping malls benefit from the tourism and is as part of the retail industry has incredible employment rates. This industry offers a variety of jobs from a simple shop attendant to a lawyer.
