14 Types of Graphs created using Microsoft Office

Question : I wanted to have a breif idea of different types of charts we can create using Microsoft Office.

Here are a total of 14 Different Types of Charts you can create :

Area Charts : These Charts use connected points to map each series and the space between the series if filled in with a color or pattern.

Bar Charts : These Charts are typically used for showing performance against benchmarks. Each data point is marked by a horizontal bar that extends to the left or right of the baseline.

Column Charts : Similar to bar charts but use vertical bars instead of horizontal bars and are typically used for showing rainfall, sales figures etc.

Cylinder Charts, Cone Charts and Pyramid Charts : Use the shapes from which they take their names to present data in a more interesting ways than bar and column charts.

Line Charts : These are good for showing changes in data series over time. A typical use would be for charting temperature or changes in price. The data points in each data series are connected by a line.

Pie Charts : A Single data series is divided in the pic slices showing the relative contribution of the various data points. Pie Charts are used for showing market shares, survey results etc.

Doughnut Charts : These are mutunt pie charts that show more than one data series. One single doughnut chart is used to represent two pir charts to show changes in market share over two years.

Radar Charts : Represents data points as symbols around a central point, with the value of each data point represented by its symbol’s distance from the scanner. Radar charts can be confusing when misused.

Surface Charts : Used to find the best combinations between two sets of data.

XY or Scatter Charts : Typically used for charting the result of surveys or experiment, plot a series of data pairs against XY coordinate. The result typically resemble a line chart that’s lost its lines.

Stock Charts : They are mutunt scatter and column charts designed for tracking the movement, close chart to track the stock high,low, and closing prices for each day.

Bubble Charts : They are mutant scatter charts that use bubble of different sizes to show one data series, whose relationship to the other two data series is indicated by placement against the axes. They are harder to read.

Combination Charts : This adds a line chart to a column chart or bar chart, plotting one or more data series as lines and others as bars or columns. Combination charts are used to demonstrate two trends at once.

3-D Charts : Include 3-D area charts, 3-D bar Charts, 3-D Column Charts, 3-D Line Charts, 3-D Pie Charts and 3-D Surface Charts.
