Reliance Sends Weekly Data Usage Reports for Broadband Users

May 3, 2010 by Amit Bhawani

Reliance NetconnectReliance Netconnect Broadband Services is often claimed to be over charging their customers for higher data usage based bills, but its actually the customers mistake in most cases. Normally most of the Internet Users have a habit of using Slow Internet Connections which range of 256Kb to 512Kb and when they get higher speed connection, they use it for downloading Music & Movies forgetting the download limits they have under the Tariff Plans. Following this when they receive Data Card Bills, they point their fingers towards the company for over charged bills, which is the very reason Reliance has now started sending Weekly Data Usage Reports to their customers which shows the following information.

Following is the information which is sent to all the Netconnect Broadband Customers –

Please find below your total data usage for the week 23rd April – 29th April 2010.

Peak Hrs : 6 am — 10 pm
Usage in duration : 3054.95 Mins
Usage in volume : 3806.44 MB

Off Peak Hrs : 10 pm – 6 am
Usage in duration : 737.48 Mins
Usage in volume : 418.97 MB

Conversion Factors :
1 GB = 1024 MB
1 Min = 60 Secs
1 Hr = 60 Mins

This is just to keep you informed on your account usage. You can also check your data usage online on our websites www.myservices.relianceada.com or www.rcom.co.in

NOTE: Usage data is available for last six months only. Usage data until 24 hrs earlier, will be available on the web site. It is important that you check your usage periodically so that you are aware of your usage pattern vis-a-vis the tariff plan you have opted for.

Data usage on common internet activities can be estimated from the table below*.

Application Data usage MB/Hour
Video streaming ( You tube ) 245
HD streaming 308
Normal browsing 6
Flash sites browsing 76
Voice Chat 18

* The above data usage rates are only indicative. Actuals may vary depending on the type of sites browsed, the site configuration, the time of the day, PC setup etc.

The above chart would give you some more information on how much Broadband Data Usage would be charged to your account when you access different applications like watching Streaming Videos or accessing websites with Games which come in the form of flash. This kind of information will be useful to all the High Speed Broadband Users because they just start using the services and access different websites, download stuff and then blame the service providers for Big Bills. Its always recommended to check and monitor your Broadband Usage every day before you cross the Download Limits.

Yeah, i also got the same information. I used only 700 MB last week. Because i use oly one hour per day. So, i use around 4-5 GB per month. Still this is good information.
