In our previous article we had published a tutorial on How to Setup Belkin Play Max Wireless Router and in this you will learn how to secure the router to make sure unauthorized access is not allowed and the Internet connection is not shared by others and you dont end us paying for the broadband usage made by others.
When compared to the other wireless routers where you need to access the IP – 192.168.0.1, 192.168.1.1 & 192.168.2.1 which is the router’s IP used to connect to the device and setup the configurations in the Belkin new router series you need to access http://router/ from your browser which will display the following page loaded from your router. You will have to enter the default password to authenticate the login and get access to the Router Setup section which by default is blank and you can change it easily.
There are two ways to perform the security which is either by pressing the WPS (Wi-fi Protected Setup) button located on the top of the router or else setting it up manually through the http://router/setup.htm page. Click on the Wireless > Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) option and then click on Enabled for both Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) & WPS hardware button. You can also change the Guest Access feature to allow your friends and family connect to the Internet Connection with a limitation that they cannot access or change these settings.
Guest Access allows access to the Internet through the WAN port, but limits guests from accessing the internal network, LAN and WLAN. The feature is supported on 2.4GHz only to simplify use.
