August 19, 2010 by Yogesh Patel

The Indian brand leading mobile manufacturer Micromax looks like its coming up with the near and similar phones like those of Samsung Corby & its family. Micromax mobiles unveiled X510 Pike mobile phone into the Indian market.

Micromax X510 Pike is a candybar type phone which has a 7.1 cms full touchscreen, moreover its has got a colorful back panels exactly same as seen in Samsung Corby. We will just go through each of its features.

The display screen is a true TFT display with full touchscreen control and screen resolution of about 240×400 pixels capable of displaying 262k colors. This phone weights just over 100 gms. Provided with 2 Mega pixel camera it can take a good clarity of images.

Mobile supports Java application and it comes with pre loaded Nimbuzz as the multi messenger, Snaptu which turns your favorite website into ultra fast mobile apps which works on your phone, preloaded Opera Mini web browser for faster browsing exeperience on your mobile, Facebook ready application.

It does have an audio video player capable of playing both types of videos supporting mp3, mp4, avi and 3gp formats. Oh yeah this phone has provision for 3.5mm audio jack by which you can even connect your PC headphones.

Coming to the point of connectivity the good thing about this phone is does comes with Wi-Fi for users to easily connect to available wireless internet at their home/office. It does have Bluetooth and GPRS connectivity.

This mobile can store upto 500 SMS and 2000 phone book entries on phone memory. Remarkably this is the first Micromax mobile which gives a battery backup of 8 hours on talktime and upto 16 days in standby time.

More interestingly this mobile features with replaceable back covers and you can change from available 5 colors. With all those features this mobile is priced at Rs 6,000 in India and what I think is since its has Wi-Fi can you afford it.

I am an user of Micromax X510 pike, an excellent phone on Java platform.
    Pros
nice getup with 5 color changeable back plate, Dual SIM, fast touchscreen, wide crystal clear view. separate music play option. snaptu, nimbuzz inbuilt application, Opera mini browser for extra power for net surfing, price (bought for 3999/- from flipkart.com). extraordinary battery, last for more than 48hrs without charging (for average users).

    Cons
No WiFi (as noted wrongly in the different websites, please look for Micromax website for actual information), Not 3G, poor camera (both picture & video, common for micromax mobiles)

    Overall
Happy user, 4000/- is unmatched for this quality mobile.

The price of this series of mobiles has gone down lately, if you didn’t know. So the device now is still a better one to hold, giving the price and features when compared to the Corby series of Samsung. The corby series comes at at least 7k pricing, and with 4k, Micromax is nothing bad to purchase. The only problem would be the Java platform, which makes the phone’s interface slow and traditional.
