How to Open WinZip, WinRar files in XP and Vista, Mac OS X

September 10, 2008 by Amit Bhawani

I want to open winzip and winrar files on my dual booting laptop which has 2 operating systems ie Windows XP and Mac OSX Leopard, but i dont want to install different programs which can confuse me. Is there a good program which zips and unzips files on multiple operating systems and very easy to handle?

Check out Zipeg which is a free alternative to WinZip, WinRar, StuffIt. The features of Zipeg includes :
Formats: ZIP, RAR, 7z, ARJ, LHA, TGZ, TAR and many many more.
Pictures and Photos – preview them instantly or open in external application.
Filenames in your national alphabet.
Windows: XP and Vista, Mac OS X: Tiger and Leopard.
Open ZIP files. Open RAR files. Open any archive files. Zip thru photo archives, see thumbnails, select and extract what you need.

Zipeg Zip UnZip Rar UnRar Software

Open ZIP files. Open RAR files. Open any archive files. Zip thru photo archives, see thumbnails, select and extract what you need.

7Zip itself has its own archiever, which can handle zip,rar,7zip and many other file extensions, there is also a portable version available for 7 zip which can be really helpful which using different systems. If for Mac OSX this should be fine but this does not have a Linux version, which makes it incomplete in terms of OS.
