Dell UltraSharp U3011 30″ Monitor Review

September 28, 2010 by Neal

DELL Ultrasharp 3011Dell launches an all new new high end LCD monitor U 3011 with a huge screen size of 30 inches in India. With a resolution size of 2560×1600 pixels and an aspect ratio of 16:10, this LCD monitor provides over double the number of pixels which offers more options for display connectivity.

Dell Monitors Price List

This monitor comes with several connectivity features like 2x DVI, 2x HDMI, Display Port, VGA, component, sound bar power, 3x 3.5mm line out for surround sound, 4x USB and also xD/SD/MS/MMC card reader. Dell has also worked on its wake up time, as now the screen now only takes three seconds to wake up from sleep (compared to the 3008WFP’s wake up time of a whopping 7 seconds.

This monitor comes with High brightness of 370cd/m2 and 7ms gray to gray response time, IPS (in-plane switching) panel for a wider viewing angle of 178 degrees plus also provides a Ultra-high dynamic contrast ratio of 100,000:1.

These are some few pictures which we managed to bring for you,

2. Controls view:

left to right: power, 3.5mm 5.1 sound, Display Port, two DVI ports, VGA, two HDMI ports, component, USB upstream and two USB ports.

3. Media view:

Two more USB ports, and an xD/SD/MMC/MS card reader

Some of the features what we liked include  10-bit panel,  Reduced screen wake up time from sleep, HDMI PBP support with DVI or Display Port, Six-axial colour adjustments support  and also not to forget 24p support.

With so many postivities, this also comes with some negativities as usual this monitor too generates lots of heat when switched on for quite a sometime. Colour calibration took ages to adjust as its very time consuming due to menu layout and also Input lag may disturb some professional gamers. Last but not the least with this monitor priced just over a Lakh of rupees is not the best idea.

I think if you are thinking to go with this then Apple does offer its all-in-one iMac with a an option of 27 or 24 inches but you have to compromise with the missing connectivity options.

Aditya Nag , 27 Jun 09 The best bang for your buck might be found with this Full-HD monitor, as long as you’re willing to overlook the absence of HDMI.
